Hi Jill, I personally hate bullying of any sort, your poem tells a harrowing tale of bullying not at school but outside, I am so glad your beautiful daughter came through and is now looked up to, she is now also in a position to spot it a mile away should it occur, great free verse poem that others should take note of my friend.

Hi JP - a very personal account of your daughter's lie at school. Written by a mother who really cares and was concerned about the treatment her daughter received at school. But, now, you get the last laugh. She has become a success in her chosen field. All's well that ends well and good luck to this beautiful girl - I assume that is her in the picture. Thanks for sharing your story. Warm regards Dorothy x

Great story poem. As a former teacher, I was constantly watching for bullying but like you say they seem to find places like the parking lot. Kudos for your daughter finding a way past it. Love the ending.

Hello Jill,
What a beautiful daughter you have... she looks like her mother. :)
Bullying is never a good thing, and I just don't understand it. It breaks my heart actually... My son went through the same thing... You know why he was bullied...
(this will piss you off)
Because he's a red-head.
really?
A red-head? A ginger, they called him. Said they have no souls.
wow. Seriously?
Like your daughter, my son made it through... but not without a few scars... but he did... barely made it through high school
back and forth through a couple of colleges... and then...
hit his stride... once he did... No looking back. He's an artist also.
(seems they like to get at those types?)
I'm an artist... but no one dared mess with me. LOL, I was too busy making people laugh anyway. lol
I loved your strength that you show... that 'mama bear' attitude... yeah, we'd kill for our cubs. and it comes right out of your work.
I'd kill for mine as well.
they're both older now... he is 27, she is 21... But I'd still kill for them. And I can tell you would for yours.
An Art teacher... she's changing lives. That's all that matters in the end... And, since she's lived through it, she can spot it. There are reasons we go through the things we do, Jill.
Every step you take... takes you to where you are.
For me, it was having a bad father... one who did unspeakable things...
and I lived to tell the tale. I tell it through poetry and art...
I bet you have a similar tale... you seem to have that fire.
Keep it burning honey...
You'll go far.
Love and laughter to you,
Keep writing,
Cat

This poem gives a good clear message about bullying and about the 'no body' that grows up to be somebody. Great poem.

It's unfortunate that some children have to go through some kind of gauntlet in order to succeed in school. We are learning how parents need to be more intentional in their awareness of what their child is experiencing both in and out of the classroom.
Excellent poem. A little "cloudy" at the end but I figured it out.

this is an excellent write, jpilcher, you did an excellent job writing this free style poem about the abuse your daughter suffer and the way she looked past the abuse and is working on becoming somebody, which she already is somebody special in my book.

We have all been in the shoes at some particular time. It reminds me of my young days too.
Lovely Poem
my favorite line
Senior in high school
now well on her way to becoming somebody someday.
The girl all the kids will still talk about,
non-stop talking about their favorite art teacher ever.
Just like she did.

This is a very beautifully and perfectly written poetry, nicely shaped and put into words. Nice vocabulary used as well. I am not that good at writing reviews but I loved it.
Best wishes.
