Truthfully, I don't understand this poem. Where we live, you don't get 'artic blasts' in autumn, though perhaps you do?

Secondly, I tried to find a common definition for 'tierra', which most folks will NOT attempt (IMHO) and couldn't find one. Is that you word you meant?

    The original reference was cold- snap but couldn't abide by the rule of two words beginning with the same letter. Artic blast was a stretch...No wonder you were confused I misspelled tiara; thinking of jeweld crown.

:-) interesting play on terra [firma] and tierra ;-)

Do red maples hold their leaves through winter, like southern live oaks do? Do they shed them in spring also?

    They do not hold their leaves in Wv in the winter. Nor do they shed twice. Thanks for reviewing.
