This set of quatrains reminds me of that old Fats Domino song thay Dave Edmunds covered back in the 70's. It probably occurs a lot, that an old flame who burns you comes back around. Once burnt ...

What a piece told as a reminder to beware.
what is the old saying? Once bitten twice shy?
the rhyme is great and the flow is good.
Nicely done

This is a very good poem. Once burned, twice shy. It's hard to trust someone who has betrayed us. This is a straight forward, interesting, clearly written piece that I enjoyed reading. My kind of poetry. Marilyn

Hi, TK...

_ Risky business letting an old love back in that dumped you once. Dump you once----she/he will probably dump you twice when another comes along.
_ Murphy's Law of romance 101. (*<*)
_ Nice to see you pop up---been wondering what happened to you.

Cheers & Blessings
Keep Smilin'... Lady J (*:*)

Choices! choices! Life and love are brimming with them.
A scene is set well, and inner turmoil is highlighted perfectly.
The tale unfolds with a logical sequence and sets me thinking about the honesty in the words.
It seems just as it is.
Well done.
:-) Shirley

This takes me back in more than one way. I remember an
old song that had a line saying, 'Keep a knocking, but you can't come in', then repeats it. Maybe Ertha Kit recorded
it, if memory serves me. I like the rhythm and ending rhyme.
The art is perfect...Thank you.

TK;
-A somewhat suspenseful and very well written romantic poem that I enjoyed reading very much as I was entertained quite relatively.
-Your rhyming words were contingent to the meaning and concept of each line therefore making the rhythm to flow smoothly.
-In rhythmic meter, cadence, timing and tempo wall helpful in making the reading clear, fluid and easy.
-The picture sets the tone for the poem and is very relative and complementary to it also.
-Thank you for sharing and posting and may the good Lord be with you forever.

Go slowly my brother, trust your gut instincts. Lying eyes can seem oh so sweet until you look beyond their sweetness and see the connivance hidden there behind a poisonous smile. Or she may be sincere, what do I know? LOL.

This is great. It sounds like a song. Excellent ABCB rhyme. The narrator questions the woman's motives for coming back, knocking on his door again. He's not so sure he wants to take her back, because of the tricks she's played on him in the past. Sounds like she really has a sob story about how she still loves him and has missed him. He's right to play it cool, Can he trust her again? Great work. judi
