Well,naps they say, "once bit, twice shy". So you caution is understandable. Of course there's always room for forgiveness and second chances too. So, you either have to follow your heart or your gut. Tough choice. Great poem.

HI BG Thank you much for reading and commenting on this Been away for awhile searching for my lost moose Than found out it was not a moose I was looking for but my muse I finally realized that when I discovered there are no Moose in Hawaii hehehe

I have missed your beautiful poems, you are back better than ever and haven't missed a beat. This is an exceptional piece of poetry. Excellent rhyming and rhythm and very smooth flow. A most enjoyable read and she can just keep on knocking but I wouldn't let her in. I think there was a song by Lil-Richie called "Keep a knocking but you can come in". Want my advice? Make her 'knock on the door' at least several times before you trust her, LOL.
She could just be on the rebound and remembering how good she had it with your protagonist. Time will tell.
