We all need to be careful because it could be us at any time. I try to help people when I can but in this world you can never be sure if they actually need the money or food or if they are just playing you.

The photo you choose for your poem
is a perfect match.
It's sad but your words are so true. Money has taken control of the humans morals and heart.

I admired the timely social commentary in your song lyrics. They seem to tell the story of the man on the bench in the photograph selected. I hope you set your poem to music. Cheers- Joan

This is, unfortunately, the case. When you become down on your luck, your friends desert you. Maybe they were never your real friends in the first place. Great description of the homeless man. In the U.S., some of the homeless have served in the armed forces and have had trouble adjusting to life. Psychiatric problems, drug and alcohol addiction lead them to this life on the streets. There are shelters, but often they are full to capacity. Great observations in this. judi

Your poems rings the truth. When you have money you attract all types of people who say and want to me your friend. But when the money is all gone so are you so-called friends. Be careful who you choose and call a friend. Thanks for sharing ...............................Portia

G'day Ine, great work mate. You are right when you say sad but true. Most people wander through their lives never ever noticing that there are lots of less fortunate people out there, I certainly know it. Cheers Fez

A sad but true irony and cruel tragedy of too many. Money attracts all
kinds of instant and fickle 'friends'. When it is gone, and nothing in it
for them, they abandon so easily, with no conscience about it. Such
a heartbreak to see so much loneliness and homelessness all over the
world. Very gripping picture indeed. Thanks for sharing.
Blessings, Ronni

Your poem is very expressive and descriptive which makes for an interesting read. It touched my heart and reminded me of all the rough times, but most of all it reminded me of when my six kids and I were homeless. It was a scary and desperate time, but God lead us out of it and brought us back to our home. (long story) I really enjoyed reading this very much. God bless you!

Your disturbing poem is true. Life is cruel, or perhaps people make it so. The biblical parable of the prodigal son illustrates this truth well. Your poem serves as a reminder.
