That is so much the need
Parents that know what that means
To be guides of children's minds
To be stern with a love that is firm
How to learn this way to form
Parents that are children in ways
So the world meets the need
To form parents that children can learn to dream

Well said. The biggest problem in high school is lack of home training and general parenting. Parents either think less is more or are just too lazy or scared to be effective parents.

You convey important advice and the Rictameter form is the perfect vehicle, since it puts an emphasis on the repeating first word, "parents"--positive role models are key. Best wishes in the contest and happy weekend- Joan

It's like the mom who seen her kid out there rioting and she took him home and tried to make him a better person. We need more parents who care, moms and dads. Great job friend

This meets the contest requirements splendidly with a spot on syllable and line count. You render a powerfully thought provoking statement which is certainly relevant to the state of the family in today's world. I wish you all the best in the voting and thank you for sharing it.

Hi Poet,
Your poem is written well and is a very interesting read. You used the amount of words 2-4-6-8-10-8-6-4-2 perfectly. One of these days I'll have to try my hand at writing a Rictameter poem.

Wasn't it Hillary Clinton who once stated that it takes a village to raise a child? I'm not sure if I have that right. But, what I am sure of is that I agree wholeheartedly with the sentiments you've expressed so well in your well written rictameter poem entry for the contest.
Good luck! ~Dean

Dean my friend, I believe it was Hillary Clinton who wrote a book with that title; I thank you for your time and the wonderful review; enjoy the weekend.

It was my pleasure. I don't read all that much, outside of science fiction, technical manuals on crafting good writing, the Bible, Stephen King novels, any horror anthology that comes across my kindle fire, classic poetry by Poe, Frost and Dickerson, and the TV guide. So, it's understandable how I might've missed a book written by a political figure I despise, LOL...
