This senryu carries a truth that applies to everything people do. Novices will believe whatever comments they get and if they are negative, they believe the work, in this case, is bad. They will believe the same if the comments are upbeat and positive.

You are right Bill; novice writers give reviewers? too much power. But it doesn?t take a lot to give the new writers confidence in what they write. Of course, the reviewers should not lie and give false hope, but just a little encouragement goes a long way. Hateful reviews are very harmful and unnecessary.
I am relatively new to this site and most of the reviews I got have been positive, but I had a couple of horrible ones that made me question my ability to write. I thought about quitting but I didn't because I love to write. Is it so hard to give a positive review? I don't think so.

I completely agree with you poem and your comments afterwards. I can take a lot of criticism so long as they are constructive, but some people can be downright nasty and give you two stars and no chance to make it up. Most people are kind, though, and that helps those of us trying to learn. Thanks for bringing up this point.

Hello Rhonda, yes, there are those who are rude and nasty but those are a few. Most people are nice about it and try to help new writers. I just had a few bad ones, and one was really bad, and that is why I wrote this haiku poem. Some people don't realize how their words can hurt so much.

a little bit sarcastic for my taste, especially for senryu.
