I am thrilled that you enjoyed this story, Carol. It meant a lot to me as well. My husband had been buried while laying underground cables and electric lines and the walls collapsed. Luckily they were able to get him out quickly and he was just bruised and banged up...Thus the story developed. Smiles, Carol

I was guessing you might have experienced something similar to the story, as it was emotionally intense. I'm glad all were OK. Smiles back!

revived Don't Worry.
You had me glued to what you were telling your flash story. smiles finally I didn't' have to worry-- made me sigh when you got the call
"I'm a nurse at Swedish American Hospital. Your husband asked me to call. The doctors are with him. Banged up a little, but nothing too serious. He knew you'd be worried."

Wow, Gert. How kind and generous of you with your kind words and stars. My husband was buried while laying underground cables and power lines...the walls collapsed. Luckily, they were able to get him out quickly and he was just bruised and banged up. thus the story developed. But the call from the hospital was beyond relief... Smiles, Carol

Thanks for sharing this flash fiction, Carol! This is a wonderful story of encouragement and my mom needs this especially now. We got bad news about my brother and I tried to tell her that God is taking care of us like He always does.
Congratulations on the win!!

This is a suburb, suspenseful story. You did a great job portraying what a loved one goes through when there is a catastrophe. There is no room for improvement.

I was in that situation when my husband got buried when they were installing underground cables and power lines... It was a nightmare, but they did get him out and he was okay. That's where the story idea was created from... Thanks for your kind review and thoughts. Smiles, Carol

Good day, Sandra...You always have the right things to say to make me feel good about my writing. I am thrilled you felt the emotions mixed into this story. Thank you for your warmest hugs... I need one this morning.

I believe I have outlined the final chapters and tied all the lose ends together so it's time to start reeling the culprits in one and by one... I hope I can get this right too!

    Smiles and hugs, Carol

I can't wait to read them. I'm almost ready to come back properly, it's been a long slog, but I'm pleased with our new home. :))

So happy that the new home is working out so well for you...

I just told my little girls goodbye for three months...Hoping their dad behaves himself and they have a good time. One definitely did not want to go. Praying is all I can do.

Three months is a long time, Carol. You must believe they will be fine. Prayers are always forthcoming, and I'm sure God will keep a special eye on your little ones. Sending hugs and love to you, my friend. xx

Thanks, Sandra... After all, he is their dad...he shouldn't want to hurt them... but after what he did to Carissa, one never knows. He has a girlfriend, so maybe she will keep everything calm. Smiles and hugs, Carol

I needed a story with a happy ending this morning. Thanks for sharing this. I can see why it won the contest. I really need to go take my meds. How come your stories always remind me to do that? Ha ha

Hugs and blessings to you, Carol. Have a great day.

I'm not sure I like the idea of my stories reminding you that you need meds. LOL

Thanks for your kind review and thoughts. Smiles, Carol

No, no, no? Reminding me to take my meds is definitely a good thing, even if it's your stories that are making me remember. When I read a story that gives me anxiety, it must be really well written! :-) And your reply to my review reminded me again? Because I got distracted and never took them before.

When I was just engaged to my current husband, there was an accident on his work site where he and another welder were hit with a pipe while they were in a ditch. I was terrified until I got to the hospital and found out he was OK. Well, OK is a relative word. He had a broken pelvis and hip, but the other guy is now in a wheelchair for the rest of his life. It could've been worse for both, but it was pretty bad.

Now, I am going to take my meds. Right now!

My Mike was badly bruised and banged up... I told him it was because of all the padding (His carharts) that he was wearing because it was so cold. Thank heavens...

I know, this deserves a six-star rating. This is a great write-up of a worrisome incident and certainly deserved the position first place that was won. You are very talented.

Bless you, Ralf

Virtual SIX (sorry out of 6s)

Dearest Mama Bear,

What a great little story! No wonder it won. The writing grips the reader from start to finish as the plot unravels in a meticulous way. So many things to be praised here-Short sentences used to create great impact. Subtle well incorporated dialogues. Almost a felt like a first-hand experience. The mother is placed in such a difficult position. She could have reacted in so many ways but you chose the best one. The terrifying lego parallel, the plot twist at the end. Heartfelt.

Well done,
Love,
Baby Bear
