Hi Colin,
I've been away for a while due to a family wedding and summertime harvest, etc.
What a nice surprise to return and find a review of one of my older works and your wonderful comments.
Keep reading those fairy tales to your grandchildren. They are a great way to inspire wonder and creativity.

This tells the story of Orpheus and the Argonauts in perfect sonnet form. The rhyme, meter and flow are all well done, and the notes are informative and well written. Good luck to you, Jeanie Mercer

What a skillfully done sonnet not easy to do especially when telling a story rather than create a mood. I'm guessing you thought of the idea in the couplet, then found the story to prove it. Wonderful use of assonance and alliteration throughout.

Thank you for the generous comments about the writing, and especially for the wonderful six stars!!
Actually, I picked the subject and wrote the three quatrains. Then I got stuck. I did not know what to do for the couplet. I actually took a few days coming up with all sorts of different endings before I finally got to this one.

Boy, did I get that wrong. :-)

Ah, but you are perceptive. I often write the ending first and then ask myself, now how did that happen? So for my typical style it was a bit unnerving not knowing how to end it.

You brought back some childhood memories. Two of my favorite movies as a kid were, "The Dirty Dozen", and "Jason and the Argonauts"! And here you are putting the story into a poem.
Nicely done. John

I too loved Jason and the Argonuats. I think our local station must have owned it because it seemed to be on quite often. I am pleased to hear it brought back some good childhood memories. Thank you for the encoruagement, John!

Excellent!! I love the way you told the story through rhyme. The imagery was vivid and the rhythm made the words flow smoothly. It was very easy to follow and understand. I also enjoyed the way you italicized the siren's song...very creative and it caused me to sing the words :) I look forward to reading more of your writings. God bless :)

Hi Bill,
I guess it obvious that I too liked Jason and the Argonauts. I loved it when the movie would come of tv for those old Saturday kiddie matinees they used to show. Thank for the well wishes. I am so happy you enjoyed it. Debi
