The photo used for your poem is the exact match for it. I like the repetition of "The Eye of God is looking down " and that it is highlighted. If that doesn't make sinners repent , what will. Well written with good rhyme and flow.

I am glad your photograph re-inspired you and shared the result with us. Your Villanelle is the perfect vehicle for your theme, and I admired your refrain and repeated rhymes--I was also reminded of the Easter season. Cheers- Joan

What a fantastic photo you took, Tom. It really does look like an angry eye of God. Can't blame Him either, there is so much that is bad down here now. Your poem is perfect, my friend, a lovely artistic pairing. xsx Sandra.

Thank you Maureen. That was an awesome sky. Glad I had the camera in the car. Had to pull off the road and shoot it.

It does look like an eye in the sky. I've just finished watching the Lord of the Rings trilogy....eye in the sky.
Well penned. I am glad to be in Christ
1jo 1:7
But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin. 1 John 1:7
Well penned villanelle
God bless

Excellent poetic telling of why God may at times feel wrath is justifiable, and done in superb Villanelle format too, Tom.
Stunning photo, frightening poem!

I like the format for this poem I had never heard of a villanelle poem before, but do find it interesting.
The cloud formations when there is a break and the sun shines through, and calling it the Eye of God is a very apt description. Blessings for a good day, Patricia

The picture and the words are in sync. The repeated refrain adds force and power to the poem. One can imagine God's condemnation of the sins of man and the forbidden fruit of demon's delights. Well done, Tom.

The Villanelle is a favorite of mine. Yours is exceptionally well done as it features fabulous photo as well. The 'Eye of God', does see all. It is not always to be feared but to be delighted in as well. However, those who fear not and do not His will most certainly will provoke His wrath.
Great job Tom,
:-) Carolyn
