Bro, you and I are on the same page. I went today to be fitted with new ones too. I go to the VA, No cost. They will give me a small device I wear around the neck to tune the background noise out. Works pretty good. Hope you get a good set. My blessings to you and the wife.

Thanks Bro no cost here either and we don't have Obama care hehe. On disability they are free when prescribed by the right authority.

Kind of like the sign, "I am death in one ear and can't hear out the other. In such a situation it is a good thing to have a sense of humor. This is well written.

This reminds me of someone who wishes to put people around them at ease. Your words create a fun way to discuss a serious issue. I see no changes. Good job and thanks for sharing.

When I first read this self revealing poem I did not clue in that it was about you. (Good thing there is room for Author notes below what is written). Some times the hardest things to write about is our self. I give it a 5-Star rating because I found it funny as well. Not that you have a hearing problem, that's no laughing matter, but like I said until I read the Author notes I thought it was about something else. Write on.

Thanks new friend. can't remember if we met before. In July I have been on FS for 2 years. I also twisted my wife's arm into getting on here too. I have written my autobiography on here. Look for "the Little Dog that Wouldn't Let go." My wife is Tootsie55 she is writing "Our Trips" book. We are in haiatus atm as we are both dealing with aches and pains. Nice to meet you. Will reciprocate and look for your stuff soon.

I have only been on here about a month. Been on other sites before. I am posting various Series of articles I have written about a bunch of medical stuff, travel destinations, poetry, and even the possible start of a book I believe I will end up calling Silent Partners, a Country Music type book. Got the first scene posted called The Drifter. Glad to see you both write. I enjoy it. Also, appreciate it if you will "fan" me and read my articles. Makes what I am doing worthwhile. Also understand about taking a hiatus from a project. I have taken a short one from my classiccountrymusicgoldnashville.com website, except for the monthly newsletter I send to more than 6,000 subscribers now. However, I will return back to doing that again some day as well.

I thought for a minute you were talking about going to America and driving on the right Geoff! I had a friend who was profoundly deaf on one side, and we always had to address him on that side! Another friend who was profoundly deaf in both ears, and had developed an ability to lip read, we have been close friends for years, he lives in Melbourne, well done, thanks for the communication, I can pray for you! Well done! Blessings, Roy.

Thanks Bro. I wrote about lip reading in my book. I never knew I was a leap reader till I met Louise. Used to annoy the hell outta me.
Obviously, psychologically I was thinking she could not hear me with her back to me ha!

I love your creative and humorous poem, Geoff.

I had my hearing tested about a week ago and found I need a hearing aid in my left ear. I'm debating the hearing aids. They can get pricey!

I hope yours do the trick for you.

Thanks mate. a couple of people we know have paid "an arm and a leg" for their hearing aids I mean THOUSANDS of dollars! I am most grateful for our government supplied aids as a disability pensioner. We don't have Obamacare here. but we did pay a Medicare levy of 1.5% of our taxable income when we worked. I believe the Obama thing makes the enployers pay not the taxpayers?

Yes, for me it would be $1,600. That was for the cheapest kind. The long horn you hold to your ear ... Not really. But that's what it will feel like to me, never having worn a devise.

Hi Sankey,

Good luck with the new hearing aids, it is one of the things we lose as we grow older it seems. Not easy I should imagine if you've always only had one good ear.

I have tinnitus in my right, which makes hearing things in noisy environs tricky ...

Patrick

Yeah for some time I had really LOUD tinnitus on the right side of course. it would not just be the short burst either. It would on on for hours some days. maybe it was the precursor to this new diagnosis. Age is part of it but I always had hearing problems. Would you believe I had perfect pitch for a long time! I do get the "rushing" most nights after the hearing aid I have is removed, on retirement. Thanks for coming by.
