Hello cbat,
A sad, sad story. With the references to polygamy, I'm wondering if the religion referred to is the Mormon faith.
How sad for you to have to watch and be helpless to help. Often, as you've noted, abused people seem to thrive on attention and are difficult to help.
A suggestion: write a small summary of the story at the beginning of the chapter. This would help a new reader (like me) along with the story.
The grammar needs some attention. I've noted a few instances. But this will improve with time and practice.
I applaud you for taking on what must be a painful journey into memories.
God bless you, dear.

This group is a ancient following of Mormon's.
This child is finally being helped, along with her children.
The suggestions are appreciated.

Bless you for coming out with the story. Of course nobody WANTS to even think it possible people would do these things to other people. but ... now what is it we do about this? Let it go on? It is going on. Pretend it isn't true? It is going on. The victims are not only the little ones it will be their little ones and their little ones and generation after generation of abused children and all we do is shrug our shoulders and turn our backs???? I don't think so

Thank you for the reply.
The best thing I can tell you about this story is That a lot is being done about this person's story.
This child and her children have received help, both financially and mental.
It is a fact of human behavior that these things keep being repeated.
I have myself experienced the effect of this on future generations.
The good thing is I have also seen these generations improve, with education and birth control.
Just exposure does a lot.

G'day mate. I enjoyed reading this story on a tragic topic that I am way to familiar with. Sadly some folks never get over it and carry it with them for life, I was a lucky one I guess. Cheers Fez

Thank you for the reply.
We do carry the scars with us.
What makes life so we can survive is seeing the new generations free.

It is a very sad story. Child abuse or spousal abuse can be damaging and the effects can last a life time.
This sounds like a situation that should have been reported to the Family Services, but never happened. They manage to help some, often paying for mental health services. To get a complete understanding, one requires mental health help.
I am not considering attempting to point my finger at the errors in your writing for the time being. I think there is way too many other issues to deal with. Writing, no matter how many errors you have, will be a therapeutic way to deal with the past. I encourage you to write your heart out, and tell those that were affected to do likewise. Writing things down and then burning it once you are ready helps to deal with the past.

Thank you for reading this.
You are right about writing being therapeutic, I have used it in the past.
This story started a long time ago, now there are many ways of helping those that need it.
I am taking a grammar class AGAIN.
