Horrifying but true in some cases. Well done to move away form the happy families stuff of some authors.
Just read a handbook that says make characters either angels or bastards!
Maybe Ott but I get the meaning.
Thanks for this poem.
Used to live in Bolton on a street with loads of dealers.
Police offer there.
Entertainment and we didn't have to pay!

Thank you, Richard :)
Unfortunately a true story this one.... my husband's gran is 93 and her main carer is her other 'favourite' grandson who has been a drug addict for the last 20 years - he steals from her and when he is 'high' he forgets to look after her. The police and social services are unable to do much as she defends him the whole time..... it's wrong.
Appreciate the 6 stars :)
Cheers, Debra x

I can think of few things more horrible. Also unfortunate. And the last line really got me. It turned the poem. And the horror of drugs is well attested to! Well penned.

Thank you, K :)
Unfortunately, this is an almost true story - apart from the beatings...
My husbands cousin lives with their grandma (she's 92). He is in his 40's and is a drug addict. He is supposed to be caring for her in exchange for her providing a roof over his head - as you can imagine, it isn't working out the way it is supposed to. He doesn't care for her and constantly demands money from her to fund his habit. We are unable to do anything about it, as she won't hear a bad word said against him and when we have got social services and the police involved, she lies and says there isn't a problem. Some days she is sat, unable to get from her chair (as she has bad arthritis) to get food from the kitchen, whilst he is out for the count in a different part of the house. It's a very sorry situation :(

Yes. Drug addicts are more horrifying than ghosts and ghouls. I always tell that to my children. How I wish they will not meet people like that. Good luck in the constest!

Yes, it is a horror story, and not just for grandparents but for other family members too. Their is something broken on both sides, the abused and the abuser. Well done on the count too.

This is a sad commentary on the drug addicts today. I once had a friend who had a son that became a drug addict because of having be injured in a horrific fall down a mountain, breaking most of the bones in his face. By the time he became well from the injuries he was so terribly addicted to drugs and was stealing to get the drug of choice. He broke into a house and the owner shot him to death. My heart was broken for my friend.

Hi :) So sorry to hear about your friend's son. Drugs are the route cause of so many evils and tragedies. This 5-7-5 was inspired by my husband's cousin who is an addict - it's an awful situation. Kindest regards...
