This is beautifully put together. It was hard for me to tear away from this for whatever incidentals I had going on. Your references were interesting and would make one ponder over his/her longtime beliefs. This piece was persuasive in an excepting and truthful way. "Being poor is a social leprosy." I couldn't disagree. Loved the enlightenment this gave to me. Write on my friend. We need to understand!

Right perspective, order, state, status of political gaming, ruling governance, and presidential role and gaming, all truly not as per the Constitution, but who bothers, like around the globe, people everywhere have been polished with money, money centered, power based, who bothers about FREEDOM of communication, information, speech? I do concur your experimental and true word about government; typo= Big Goverment (Government); well said, well done; post more. ALCREATOR LITT DEAR (D R)

Yes! You have written an effective piece and backed it up with great literary references. Very interesting and fun to read, although the topic is frustrating and sad. but I see what you have written about all the time. I have even experienced it myself.
If I may, I noticed one typo as follows:
Oh yes, there is more. He does not have any source of income. There is no unemployment compensation, no workers' compensation, no welfare, and no heath care or Medicaid, for a perpetual "Job."
* heathcare should be "Health Care "
Well done, and thank you for sharing this. Hugs to you.

The funny thing is, in our country, the hypocritical underbelly of those low income jobs was exposed when covid 19 struck, those jobs that backpackers and those desperate that were prepared to do, or imported workers, the fruitpicking, or planting, fencing...the tough jobs, abattoirs etc. weren't being filled, because the white folk won't do them, they want the easier jobs, your country, like ours, have a vast population of "privileged," poor or rich, they'd rather be unemployed than do "anything" we tend to blame governments for everything. So, it's people, rather than governments that are to blame, "governments are the people". But some great observations, we are all to blame. Blessings Roy

I enjoyed reading your post. Your writing style is powerful and convincing. I'm not American so I don't get all the references but I agree that poverty is a horrible state to be in no matter where you live. Thanks for your sharing this and have a great day

This story, Brother Can You Spare a Dime, is a non-typical rant filled with legitimate grievances and accusations which is all we can get out of politics today. Being a citizen today is like watching a parade where, if the clown on the float is your uncle, he'll throw you the most candy.

Absolutely brilliant statement.
Biden wants to give everyone candy, he just cannot articulate what that means in his plan. Saunders, Bidens best new buddy, wants to give everyone "bread." Problem: he just doesn't have the dough.

Not sure you're ever gonna see anything that resembles transparency or even translucency, to be honest. But you certainly have point here with respect to the economy and such... however, these lockdowns have killed any chance of a 'roaring economy' ....

Sad, but true story. Your right 40 is no man's land in this economy. Too young to retire or die. One nic"
"the metaphor of nine meatballs" in the first paragraph you say it's seven meatballs.

Thank you. Seven meatballs is the usual. Today, nine meatballs. Thus, hope . . ..

I love this story and the way you worked in "The Waterfront" with Brando. Then all the way down to "Brother Can You Spare a dime" which is so relevant today. In this current state of the world, you either "have it" or "you don't." Ain't no middle ground. I'm just proud to have my little Janitor job, it gives me a chance to be a blessing, every day. This is a very well written piece. Have a great day and God bless.

I am in full agreement with your message.
And I like that you used a Stouffer's meal as a metaphor.
Buddy, Can You Spare a Dime is good for a theme.
But have you ever heard Ry Cooder's version of
another Depression anthem 'One Meatball'?
From a writing standpoint, I can offer some advice.
Pick a tense, and stick with it.
Also, refrain from saying everything you want to say.
Really. You packed too much meat into this hobo stew.
Save some for later.
One man's opinion.
Peace, Lee

Finally some suggestions to improve my writing, accurate too.
I embrace the observations of real readers and writers that are not pedantic.
Thank for an positive approach. One that does not claim to have helped President Lincoln with his speeches.
I write for my self satisfaction, and I am gratified to find some who appreciates the overall story, but also keeps me on track. I revise, cut, and stay with tense, and fell good about writing.
Thank you
