Yeah microbiology and particle physics should be a doddle compared to full blown motherhood, with three of the blighters (sorry I meant little angels of course, slip of the tongue an all that!)... anyway who says there is a right and wrong way of doing things in motherhood? Yeah there are bad things you can do and good things but it were all that simple then we'd have an idiot's guide too motherhood would we and Haynes manual for babies and toddlers and children!? Second thought Debra, maybe that's what you should do, write a that guide, manual, book, novel about it.... teach others the "Not the Way to do It" :) Sorry but this one had me smiling :)

I had twins and two girls and I felt the same way.
I cursed my kids...told them I hope they had kids like they were.
They did. lol

love the satiric humor in your commentary
great 5/7/5 syllable count
good consonance of M sounds
yep, we all do get quite good at getting it all wrong, especially according to our kids LOL :-) Brooke

LOL! True.... they're always telling me what I did wrong and never notice what I get right! Thank you for your feedback, Brooke. Kindest regards as always, Debra :)

my adult children's favorite family stories focus on something I did wrong that they find hysterically funny :-)
-
LOL - I'd love to hear those stories, Brooke! I'm sure my kids are storing up my failings to relate back in the future! x

I love the poem. It is short and to the point. I thought the same thing many times when I was raising my children. No instructions. I thought I had it wrong many times, but the kids turned out great. I guess I was not so wrong after all. Great work.

Hi Debra. I don't think you/we as mothers can do it wrong if we just love and guide them, set a good example. I'm very sure you're doing that. All the best. Marilyn/BeasPeas

I guess that's why they say
A Mother's work is never done
it's not that the job never ends -
it's that she has to keep re-doin' it!
(until she gets it right)
LOL
(I sincerely doubt you're getting better at doin' wrong though!)

Cheers Lorraine :) I keep trying - I think they're turning out ok (they're certainly no worse than any other kids I come into contact with LOL!) x

Being a good mother is simple. You spend valuable time with your child . Teach good values-morals etc. I used the time while driving them to school to talk about many things.Always pay attention when they are speaking, it does not take much . If it seems important give your full attention if not tell them you will get to it later.
main ting show love but be firm where principles are concerned. yes must mean yes and no must mean no

Comment from Warren Rodgers
Ah Debra,
I think your 5-7-5 expresses what a lot of mothers feel inside. I have all due respect and more for mothers in today's fast lane society. There are so many demands on them and their children a mother must feel unqualified for 24/365 duty and every year. My only small related experience is as a single dad of one nearly grown child - a much easier task then what you face. Your words are honest with a lot of pent-up frustration coming through to this reader. I have no real advice, I'm afraid, just encouragement and good luck wishes in the future. Just the very fact that you are concerned about it tells me you are a very good mum.
All the best,
Rodger
