I loved reading this. But then, I've always loved to read your poetry. It is a true gift. I've missed reading your posts, but then I have been abstencia for a while. Someday I will try, in the far distant future, to emulate you, you set a high bar and I know I will not come close, but the effort to try something new will be a good challenge. Good to see you - take care and God bless, Loren

I wonder how many of my other fans are not being notified? Maybe that is why I am thinking about leaving in December from lack of interest. It's just not the site I signed up for. Thank you my friend. Yes I have posted a few lately. Have a lovely week, Dear. Nancy:)

I've asked FanStory why they don't notify me about you and they give me the answer that everyone is notified unless they in a blind contest but that not true. I've never been notified.

Well managed rhyme and rhythm, effortless and unforced. Not sure what the apostrophe is doing at the end of 'repartee', but otherwise this is an enjoyable tale of the town drunk and most enjoyable to read.

I have no idea why it is there either. Maybe spell check? Maybe my busy fingers? Haha You are the only one who questioned it but then this site is not about helping that much anymore. We used to have a few teachers who tried to teach. Thanks for the comment and stars. Have a nice day! Nancy:)

Aww. Thanks. To be honest I wondered if it was pretending to be an accent as the word is French. X

    That's what I thought...so I let it be. LOL
I know how we should pronounce it. It does rhyme. Thanks again. Nancy:)

A good story told in perfect rhyme and meter. You painted quite a picture for the reader, one right out of "Gunsmoke." Too bad the gentle soul couldn't regain control, even with the help of others. Blessings. Carol

Excellent Couplets in Heptameter poem about the town's drunk. It's very sad. Alcohol kills and the 1800s they didn't have AA. I can imagine how hard it was, poor man.

Very well written poem, but quite sad. Addiction has taken its toll yet he retains some shreds of dignity despite everything. At least some people show compassion. Many of these town drunks are just gentle, sad lost souls who can't cope with life.

Gunsmolies town drunk, Louie is so familiar to me. He's such a harmles ole soul he wouldn't hurt a fly. The Marshall Dillion watches out for him, and doctor being his friend tries to do right by him trying to keep him healthy. Chester and Newly watch over him too. Poor man wouldn't know what to do without friends like them. He is a friend of miss Kitties she sometimes give him a sip,or to to calm hidpsvshakes.

You do a great job describing the life of the town drunk. Some people think he is a pest. Some people want to help him out if he will let them. But will he help himself?
Excellent storytelling that put us in the Old West with one of its occupants.
You have excellent meter and rhyme, but the storytelling makes the reader just get into the story.

I enjoyed tremendously your poem, your words, and your word flow. Plus, I happen to like all things western. Then you topped yourself by smoothly incorporating in your work a wise warning gsinst addiction.

This is such a sad, but well written story in a poem, using the heptameter form which gives it a smooth rhyme and rhythm, as is not unusual coming from you, my dear Nancy. This sad man, addicted to drink, and lives in the Sheriffs jail. That is so sad, and how nice the sheriff was. This is a lovely poem, my friend, I really enjoyed it. Love and hugs, Sandra xx
