This should be on the front page of the site! :) I had someone give me 3 stars saying my store was really well written but they didn't like fantasy young adult novels. I kindly said thank you but wanted to say 'don't read it!' I wish we could use emoji. I had a good one for him. But hey they great reviewers outweigh the bad so it's still a win. I don't want to be in first place. I just want honest reviews and I guess I'll take the bad ones too. :)

Yep, it's all about taking the good with the bad, just like everything else in life.

Thanks very much for your comments. ~Dean

love this
Got a four star a while back and for what? Said one verse was contradicting the other when it was intended to be ironical.
The reviewer held on to her point of view.I had a few serious reviewers give me their opinion and they agreed she was not accurate. Hope those for whom this might render some good advice reads it
As usual well penned Good rhythm and rhyme
Awesome presentation

Dean, these suggestions put to a lilting rhyme are definitely wise and instructive. We all have been there and there are many new refreshing poets this year. Should be fun. Nicely put. :0 GracieAnn

Very good Dean - excellent internal rhyming. All good advice given in this poem to those new to Fanstory. But referring to lines 7 and 8, I still think it worth trying to review stuff that is not my cup of tea. Sometimes I learn something from doing so. You have to notice the internal rhyme because at first glance, looking at the word endings of each line - it looks completely rhyme free. A really good, clever poem. Warm regards Dorothy x

Thanks for the sixer, and the fine feedback on this as well, Dorothy. I'm very happy that you enjoyed reading it, and I appreciate you giving me your insights.

    Much obliged, my friend. :)

Inspirational write, Dean, very kind for you to write on this subject. Most people on site are usually kind, gentle, encouraging and generous, probably more than they should be, you are always gentlemanly! I had a reviewer yesterday, a person I'd never seen before saying he liked my poem, then gave me three stars, then advised me on how I could improve it, I could receive a hundred brilliant reviews, and yet worry about this one, crazy, just having a rant! Oh by the way, superb work Dean, great internal rhymes, smooth and eloquent language, I nearly forgot what I was doing here! Well done, blessings, Roy, where do you live Dean? Coming around for a cup of tea! Blessings, my friend, Roy.

I live in Ohio, Roy. We're about 45 miles east of Cincinnati, very close to the Kentucky border. There are just 1,281 people in our small farming community, at least according to the sign at the town limits. That means there are five times as many pigs, cows, horses, and chickens that there are people, but that's okay by me. I much prefer the conversation of pigs, cows, horses and chickens to that with most people I know any day.

Thanks a bunch for the review.

Most welcome, sometimes the conversation with animals is more intelligent than with people! Loved the poem, Roy.

It's more like the newbies need to be kind to us isn't it? LOL They seem to love to jump right in with low ratings even if they don't know what is going on. When I joined I spent a good month reading what other people said in reviews so I would fit in. I was really a greenhorn and didn't know a sonnet from a triolet. Goes both ways Dean. Just don't step on anothers dreams. Be kind. :<) Nancy

Yeah, that's who this was directed at, Nancy, the "Newbies". Those of us who have been here a little while know all too well how it works around here. As for me, I'm always supportive and respectful of someone else's work. Poetry and stories are as personal to those who write them as are our lovers, in some respects. If on the rare occasion I give someone less that a five, I'll give them advice, spelling corrections, etc. to try and help them improve. You've never needed my advice as your work and technical expertise outshine my own. If I ever thought you did, you'd definitely be the first to know.

    Have a good evening. ~Dean

Oh, did that sound like I was ranting at you? I am always expressing myself in the wrong way. No I was saying none of us have the right to put another writer downand step on their dreams of being a writer. Most of us are learning. Sorry my friend . Hugs. Nancy

No, I didn't take what you expressed that way at all, Nancy. I agree with you, no one has a right, and no apology is necessary. :)

Dean this was well stated
I've had cruel reviews that grated.
And made me feel hated
Three stars cos they hated my genre
I can't find a rhyme for genre
Well you get the drift
It er caused a rift
Thanks for this timely. Advice
You are very very nice
God bless

Hahahaha, yeah, me neither, jenny. Is there even a word that rhymes with genre? Maybe a short phrase like doggone ya?

Anyhow, thanks for your poetic reply. I appreciate that. ~Dean

We were all newbies once and had to learn, and I was lucky to have nice people show me how. Okay, I can't 'review' in the spags department, but I can tell people what I like about their work. When we write, we put a lot into the words, they become our babies, our heart and soul is in those words. They will learn, just like we did. This is a lovely poem, Dean, with lovely sentiments. :) Sandra xsx

Yeah, Gungalow (Pam) took me under her wing and showed me the ropes. She taught me a great deal about how things work around here, in addition to helping me with my rhyme, presentation and flow as well. My poor meter falls squarely on my own shoulders, however. I read way too much Poe.

Thanks very much for your comments.~Dean
