Well, that was a bit of fun. Before I read you notes I thought, 'wouldn't mind looking through this guy's record collection.'
I've only just started with poetry myself. so not really able to give in depth critique regarding the 'tempo' or the 'meter' and other such labels.
I enjoyed it and I 'got it'.
So job done in my book.
Karl.

This is a very good free verse poem about drugs and what they do. It also shows how much music is affected by drugs. It is sad how many very talented people lost their lives to drugs in the 60s and beyond.

I like all the references to music. Some songs I liked and some didn't. I always liked "Puff the Magic Dragon'. It is the thing that started my life long love of dragons. I always thought it was about the end of childhood. That is when I started wondering what songs really meant.

    Thanks for digging this one up and having a go at it, dragonpoet. Not even I liked some of the songs I included in this poem, but they fit the subject matter. Your thoughtful review is very much appreciated. ~Dean :}

Hello

WOW! Imagery and flow are superb. I found your notes almost as entertaining as the poem...brought back some memories from my undergraduate days.

Take care and stay safe,

Ray

You forgot Lou Reed's "Sweet Jane". There are so many others including Clapton's "Cocaine". Terrific poem Dean. You have captured the essence of the psychedelic movement. The word play was spectacular and the imagery terrific. It's a shame I couldn't see the pics. Some glitch in the site today. I appreciate your notes a great deal and appreciate the Magical Mystery Tour. Rod

    Thanks, Rod, and I appreciate that very much. There are so-o-o many songs I'm sure I left out. They were so prevalent in those days, like subliminal messages almost. That doesn't happen in today's music. Now, they simply come right out and say it. I'm not too sure that's a good thing either.

    Thanks again. :}

    There was a lot of mysticism and unity back in the day. The music meant something and moved us to change the world. And we did it with love. You are so welcome my friend!

Ugh...my coworker's 33-year-old sister overdosed just last Tuesday, leaving behind two messed up little boys. I'm so sick of the drug culture but I'm surrounded by it. On a lighter note, I haven't heard the word "skewbald" in a while!

    Yes, it is definitely not something I would ever want to get mixed up in, Michelle. That's absolutely terrible about your coworker's sister, and at just 33? Good grief.

    Thanks so much for your thoughtful review. ~Dean

Wow, Dean! You've put a lot into this piece. The author notes are fabulous. You enhanced this sheltered woman's education this evening.

A very sobering poem. The internal rhyme is well done.

Ooh, Dean, those white rabbits were really creepy. I love the graphics that looked to be from an old BW version of Alice in Wonderland. As usual, very well done. :) Bev

Nice blast from the past! I love how you have incorporated all the songs from my teenage years and made them into a poem. I also like the nod to he book. Your poem reads well and he pictures you chose were awesome!

    Thanks so much, Jane, I am very pleased to know that you enjoyed it, and that it brought back a few memories. I was born in 1960, so I remember these artists quite well myself. I never bought into the disco craze in my teens. I was always a Pink Floyd, Black Sabbath, Three Dog Night, Eagles, Edgar Winters and Aerosmith kind'a guy, LOL.

    I fully appreciate your outstanding rating and thoughtful review very much, and I hope to see you next time out! ;)
