Life is for play and often we do forget. I do, especially on planes because I hate flying- not a fear of it, I just have inner ear problems. They don't like to pop and after a flight, my head is like an aquarium for days. To be like that child makes every day a journey that is much more than from point a to point b.

    Thanks, Ed. Not too keen on flying either. A mind-numbing experience as a passenger, though I enjoyed my sixteen years doing it professionally as a navigator..

Wonderful sentiment eloquently expressed int this endearing poem written in enveloping rhyme, that reminds us of the joy of children who frolic at play. It always gladdens my heart too.

Aw, doesn't that picture make you just want to run out there in the rain and splash around a bit... Another poem is spot on, Tony. We could all do with that lesson on enjoying life before it is too late, Giddy

So true, and children know this. Why should they sit still when right outside their limits...waits LIFE! Would that we could still approach every day this way! Wonderful!

An adorable child image to accompany your well-written, interesting, and profound poem. These are wonderful lines to remember always in our lives:
"Innately we know that life is for play;
Meanderings give the greatest delight.
They do not alter the length of the flight
But they make each day a little less grey."

If we can only grow up and keep of childhood adventurous mind I think the world would be a much happier place. Lovely poem. Have a wonderful New Year.

Your poem makes a lot of sense, it is a play being acted out from our birth to our death. It is what role we wish to choose that makes the difference in where we stand. Excellent poem, Tony, and a pleasure to read. xsx sandra

Yes m'dear - it is the moments of play and joy that make our days less grey - and help the passage of time a much more pleasant thing - especially when sitting in an aircraft.
Another lovely write, Tony. I always enjoy seeing the world through your eyes.
Rose.

The picture you have chosen is so perfect. Children definitely bring a lot of color and adventure to the world. Winter break is 3 more days, this has been a very adventurous and colorful two weeks with kids out of school. Thank you for sharing your writing.
