You are right, Lancellot! When I saw the news about this particular shooting, my feelings mirrored yours. It seems that there are so many trying to find a reason to riot. While I can feel for young black men who are often targeted simply because of the color of their skin (I wrote about that in my recent poem, "Show Your Hands"), this particular incident has absolutely nothing to do with that. Antonio was pointing a gun at the officer, for God's sake!
I agree with you -- open discussions need to be had -- and soon!

That same hated word reared its head again, political correctness. Total madness to try to justify the criminal acts and blame the police. Very well written commentary. Until someone stands up and speaks with the voice of reason, it will escalate and can lead to civil war. Great write, you're doing a great job by highlighting this. Faye

Oh, lancellot. Will the insane madness ever end? You write so passionately and with a superb sanity that looks at the real problems and not those developed and clouded with the passions of the moment. ISIS is not the only terror group in our world. Our leaders who refuse to look at the causes and root of our country's problems is also a terrorist organization. Thank you for your insightful reporting.

I viewed the accompanying video & understand your point of view on the matter.
The mod mentally of those trouble makers doesn't surprise. His mother didn't help with her lies. You can tell by this action she took, she was not a great role model for her son. She gave the troublemakers an excuse to riot. This is a gusty essay many may not agree with.

Hi,
I watched your video and enjoyed reading what you explored in your essay. It would surely give a good debate.
It's hard to understand what goes on these people's mind. I think probably this kid had been involved in lot of "not good" stuff all through his life, his mother did not show to be a good role model either by lying. Can't even understand why she lied. Just caused more violence and mess.
About the fact that the boy was black, and the police officer killed him, surely it would trigger protests and more violence. But perhaps if it was a white boy doing the same under the same circumstances, the outcome it would have been the same. just saying, hard to know.

I am giving you one of my six stars for content, subject matter, guts and writing. My personal observation is regarding easily gotten guns. Which I would bet are gotten through less than legal means. I do not know any answer.
