Wow. It is no wonder that this wonderfully penned monostich poem won the contest, PUPA. It's magnificent, both in presentation as well as your eloquent, carefully chosen choice of words. The entire composition is Grade A+, and wonderfully done.
Congratulations on you contest conquest, and I sincerely hope you have a happy, healthy and very prosperous New Year!

It has indeed been a long time. Welcome back, and as always, even in one short line, you impart such wisdom in our everyday lives, yes, there is that difference in our assumptions vs our knowing. The art work you chose is magnificent, but
pale in the beauty of your simple words.
Well done and I see that indeed you were the winner of this contest.

I thought this was very clever and the title fitted perfectly. It was actually this poem that inspired me to enter the contest as well. A great concept / idea expressed with so little words.

A marvelously poetic line only obliquely relating to the title because it is the mind alone that might confuse the concepts of assuming and knowing whereas the creation of poetry entails so much more. Does not a poem need that much more understanding? -Ekim777

Thanks for your review. I just did not get what such a short one line poem needs more understanding?

Well, this one line is beautiful. And I think for me the bird is singing although right now I am hearing what sounds like sea gulls squabbling.
I guess it depends on the bird.. :o)
God bless

The message is important when one remembers that assumptions are sins or unjust since they could serve as a foundation for a regretable action.

"Assuming vs Knowing" is a rare piece that is so pithy, witty and yet delivers a poignant cautionary message to all who might be self assured. Dare I say you NAILED it? May God Bless You. Merry Christmas.

I once heard a bird that sounded like a cat meowing, so no doubt it is possible for one to sound like crying, especially the crying of a baby. I find bird calls very interesting. Best wishes for the competition.

Jay calling against the wind sometimes can seem to be a baby cry off in the diatance. Your poem is right on. Thank for sharing. Glad you are back. Blessings to you.

Yes, from a distance things may appear one way, and actually be another. This poem is very timely in today's world where so many of us jump to conclusions in a heartbeat. Well said
