You nailed it, my friend. And companies make tons of money. We forget that all those toys we acquire we can't take with us when we go. God Bless. Mary

Thanks Mary, I have a feeling the rewards have run out. I am sorry I am not really into Fantasy which I think your current work up for review is about.

Hi Sankey, I couldn't agree more. Although, there is a legend behind the Halloween, it's been turned into a money spinner. And that is a shame. I liked your poem a lot. All the best. Ulla:))

I agree. Much ado about nothing. I see you are developing into a "Scrouge" , and well on the way to achieving that :).
Personally I prefer being a Grumpy Old Man or GOM as I am called by the family.
It has the advantage of not being a seasonal so you can exercise it all year around.
Have a great day further.

I'm not big on Halloween and reject the commercialization of all the holidays. I admired your rhymes and repeats for emphasis. Rant anytime you choose--I agree with your observations- Joan

Thanks Joan. I did expect some disagreement. Actually Grandparents even of fellow believers as we are, are the worst on it too encouraging the little ones to get right in it. It has pagan connections.

G'day mate.
So true is this well written little piece.
Halloween is huge here, in the Philippines and it nearly drives me nutso. So too, is caroling. Every beggar in the place buys a 20 peso guitar and comes to our house, which is never closed and strums for money. Last year one bloke came, the next night he came with a woman, the following night he came with the woman and ten kids. I wanted to tell him to knick off, but that's not the way it works here lol.
Cheers Fez

Yeah mate. I had a guy I wrote about briefly in my book who was trying to marry me off to a Filipina and you should know by now most Filipina's expect their husbands to send heaps of money back to the family at home but I guess living there is different for you. Thanks for a great review.

Hi, Geoff
= I'm with you. Don't get Halloween, other than a bunch of nonsense.
= However, as a kid I participated, but over the years I have found it quite boring.
= Thanksgiving is much better.
Cheers, J
Have a great day/evening.

Halloween is a fun time of the year for kids and big kids. lol. It's a day the kids and parents get excited and get to do something fun. You're not forced to buy candy, you're not forced to go trick or treating. If you don't like it then don't do it. That's what I've always thought. When I worked at the daycare, that was the best Halloween ever. The lunch there was all weird Halloween stuff and there was so much excitement in the kids' eyes. It was fun to see. It's fun to see excitement and happiness when there is so much around us. And as far as Christmas goes you don't have to buy Christmas presents, only if you want to. Again the Santa thing is just something fun. I think it's all exciting.

Hi Geoff, I don't celebrate Halloween. I've researched where it comes from and how it started. It's the most celebrated holiday for satanists. No thanks!

Sankey, I'm glad to find a kindred soul in this one. That's what I always say it is - Cocacola and Haribo and whoever else makes crazy costumes and teaches people from the cradle that scares are great fun.
It's a marketing ploy
For each girl and boy
Some candy or toy
Their temporary joy.
Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for reposting this one, I missed it the first time around. I agree that everything has become far too commercial and the meaning behind the holidays are lost on most people.
