Poor Geoff, you must miss the feel of the keys and the sound of music. However humour is a great panacea, and I am glad to see it is a saving grace in your loss.
The verses are written in a limerick style which portends its humorous air and each is perfectly timed and rhymed. I am glad the piano went to a good home, where it will continue to make others as happy as it made you. Well done cheers Cass

Hi Cass thanks for coming by. I really thought when I read your review you came by here back when this first went up. Thanks for coming by my friend., maybe even again if I am no mistaken?? I put it up at the request of a long time FS friend as I mentioned it to her today and she had not seen it before.

Hi, Geoff...

_ This is great!
_ Love the sign you mention in your notes.
_ Always good when we can laugh at ourselves, since we obviously can't reverse what time does to us.
_ Thanks for sharing. (*<*)

Cheers & Blessings

Very good one, Geoff. Kind of funny and sad at the same time. Excellent rhyming and overall verbiage!

Talk about having to give things up...I dread the day when I can no longer exercise with my current vigor. Age, arthritis(severe), etc. will eventually take away the bulk of my ability to exercise, I expect.

Peace,

Mike

Yeah but if you review with rewards then you can reward reviewers too and as a result they can promote and so the wheel turns hehe!

I love the sound of a piano. I tried to learn once playing it, but I am not very musically inclined, so I settled for just enjoying it by listening to it. Great stuff.

Very cute. Sorry your hearing has gone. My Dad lost his hearing when he got a bad case of measles at five years old. His hearing aid could help one ear to hear.
I like your sign mentioned in the author notes. Gave me a good laugh :)

This is a sad one, not being able to listen to music or to hear the piano sounds. You have your memories of the piano and of all the songs you used to enjoy. First stanza you describe how much you enjoyed playing the piano. You might want to think about changing the second line to "My dad and sister also did." I like the rhyme of dulcet tones and groans in the second stanza. Although you've found other things to enjoy, I'm sure they don't give quite the same enjoyment. You might add an apostrophe in front of puter--'puter keys. Excellent rhyme throughout, and you do an excellent job of getting your feelings across. judi

Thanks for letting me know, will take a look at your autobiography, ....My husband lost a lot of his hearing as he is a US Navy veteran ( I think around 25yrs or a little less) & was on a lot of aircraft carriers, & his job consist of being near jet planes come in & land..And, then & there they didn't realize the importance of ear suppressors ..They didn't issue, or require the sailors who had this type of job to wear them, like they do now ....At least he gets a tiny compensation to for their mistake, now finally ,the last couple of years....All, three kids of mine are hard of hearing too.....though not as bad as my husband, Unfortunately, They lost some of their hearing, my twin sons while in the army, & daughter with a lot of ear infections. My hearing is perfect & I love to listen all types of music....I can hear through walls....C.

Hi Caressa so nice to make a new friend and one that understands hearing loss even as a well hearing person. My wife and I met when I started a group f9or hearing impaired staff at our Concord Hospital in Sydney which would you believe was just a War Vets Hospital for years now public but still treating War Vets. If you like music have a look at my Really Truly Christian Christmas Carols book here on FS. I wrote some carols years ago and one more recently as I got tired of all the junik being trotted out about Christmas that had nothing to do with the real message of Christmas. Nice meeting you look forward to your visits with my Auto or other books. WIll reciprocate with yours too gonna have a look at your profile right now.

Good poem my friend, with a very sad message. I am so sorry that your hearing is not good. The years take their toll that's for sure.

Always had hearing probs from bit=rth bro. More recently it was the Middle Ear infection and now from the dreaded lurgy all the coughing has blocked it up even more. Thanks for the great review. Getting close now to major Edit of my autobiography and Whole book review then sorting photos off FS for the book seeing we only get one pic per chapter on here.

What a sad poem, Geoff. And I'm sure it was a sad moment, even if it was of no more value to you, to have it hauled away today.

I liked your poem. It was light and had its humorous side, but there was still a lingering nostalgic sadness to it.

Yeah mate you gto t that right for sure. It was sad seeing them roll it out the door and down the driveway to the truck. The lady I bought it from bought it off me again at a reduced price. I had it up for sale for a while with no offers. The Tuner gave me a price they would take it off me for and I heard the lady was thinking of getting a piano again so I said if she matched the tuners offer she could have it. Thanks for coming by mate.
