You set this piece up perfectly
Loe the detail of the dog licking the protagonist's face at the end.
It is so touching. Animals are so innocent, accepting and loving. You have captured that all here. ... plus how life altering it is for their human companions when they go away.
Hugs, d.

I am very flattered you found this piece "touching" and worth bookmarking, Hugs. It was not easy to write it in 100 words or less, but I am delighted you and others enjoyed it so much. Thank you so much for all those stars, too! Rod

Thank you so much for your sad but true story for many. I, too, have been in this situation more times than I wanted. However, I know that hard as it was, my precious pet deserved my compassion to make this decision. I can only think of one thing to say, THANK YOU." I LOVE ALL ANIMALS. It is so hard when they are in need of help we cannot give them.

Aww...I was thinking it was her at first, then I thought he had the tumor and was contemplating suicide. The twist at the end was so sad. And yes, I've had to go through it before. It's never pleasant.
Great story. Very emotional.

Ain't it the truth! Losing our pets can be mortifying!
I like the title and the way the last line wrapped it up so neatly.
This was a clean work that explained it all, in 100 words! :)

Indeed, there is little more "mortifying" in life than sitting with your pet those last moments of its life. Thank you so much for sharing my story. Rod

Sorrowful and heartfelt - I have experienced this same pain with a pet. You've captured the anxiety then the sadness perfectly. Nicely penned. AT=/

I so love the use of dialogue here - it really brings this story together. This is very good flash fiction, as bring us a bit an unexpected ending. But none the less, a very tearful and emotional one. Putting an animal "down" is difficult and bring this point home quite nicely.

Nicely done! Obviously sad but well written and even managed to put in a twist at the end. I actually went back and read it twice more. Good luck in the contest.

I love the picture. I love the story. At first I thought the man was sick. He showed such great fear and sorrow. Then at the end, it was the god that was sick. I could understand the pain the man felt. Great work.

Your story is contains a lot of emotion. At first I thought it was the person who had the tumor. The end was a surprise for me. I enjoyed it.
