Congratulations on winning this contest with words that touch each of us, or a member of our extended family. I am on a 'Stand up to cancer' team and am eagerly looking to the day when we will find a cure for this dreaded disease.

I for one am a breast cancer survivor and have made my 5 yrs. this past May. They are coming out with newer ways and techniques as this world of technology emerges. Let's all hope for the best and keep in mind that Jesus is the one and only true physician(healer).

Thank you so much, Charlene! Although still in treatment, I am a survivor too and spend much of my time working with support groups teaching others to find the joy and blessings the illness brings into your life. I am happy you enjoyed this and congratulate you on five years cancer free.

Thank you as the encouragement is greatly appreciated. You cannot get through it without hope and the support of others who have been there too.

Good for you to make an awareness of breast cancer....survivors need to cheer you on! We used to see the long lines and tables in Dallas, North Park mall, when Susan G. Komen and her sister started this crusade. I have given healthy blood to help with the research. Keep speaking up!!! Congrats for your writing!

Thank you for the encouragement. I am a survivor even if still in treatment and work with those just beginning to keep their spirits high as an attitude of love and gratitude moves the healing right along.

Excellent Piece. These words are so profound and the last line packs a wallop. This is something we may encounter some time in lives directly or indirectly; no matter it is something we all must strive to conquer. Very well written, so appreciatively received.

An excellent tribute to those who have had breast cancer and ultimately lost their battle, and for those who still fight the good fight today.
Well done.

I am a fighter LOL! No more breasts but it did spread and the most important thing to me is to give hope to those who wander in the mists of doubt.

We lost my wife's mom to pancreatic cancer in 2012. I think it's a most loathsome disease. My hope is that one day a cure will be found. Until then, fight on, my friend! Good luck, and God bless :}
