Good God! If I hadn't seen the picture I'd have said you were describing Hell, lol. This older couple is smart enough to know that man does not live by liver and kidneys! You always have such a unique angle...can't articulate past that. All I know is that you're fun to read!

I'd give you a six...!

Bravo!

Mike

Thanks, mike. Get elderly people together and you get an organ recital.

Good thing I am used to this kind of discussion at dinner. My father is a volunteer EMT in his spare time ( spare time?) and dinner conversation sometime includes the patients he picks up. Meatballs, hmmm,

Oh dear. My hubby starts discussing his bowel movements at the table. Something I don't want to hear.

The liver and kidneys must be the serious discussions. On meatball day I suppose they discuss bunions. I enjoy anything that I didn't have to cook myself. They look tooooo happy, like they really are eating the administrator's liver! mikey

I'm with you--anything I don't cook myself. They do look happy. Maybe they have an ailment in common, perhaps an STD. L0L

I like nursing home poetry and this is a unique one. Liver and kidneys is certainly a topic but never on the menu where I work. Your words remind us what we have to look forward to in the future.

Hi friend!
This is a nice entry. I also checked to see if it's a contest entry but it wasn't.
I also feel maybe it could be under commentary and philosophic poem?
Should it?
I might be wrong, but don't burn me, please!!!

...Smiling....

H-m-m-m-m-m. Hannibal Lecter's nursing home, I take it, Spitfire. Sound delicious, even better than the chili cheese coneys I had earlier for supper.

A cleaver...uh, heh-heh... I mean clever little play on words here, my friend.

Good stuff!

Yikes! Liver and kidneys, neither a tasty meal nor subject for conversation. But the two subjects in the picture seem to be quite appreciative. :)

I can't wait to see their reaction to the meatballs.

Cheers, DW

You're the first to notice the description which for me is part of the hilarity.

Food is a big deal at the nursing homes. The ones my husband's corporation has do an excellent job with their meals. They find out what people like and don't like, and if they didn't like it the cooks gave them something else. Health issues are sure to be the big topic with elderly people. That's a frequently discussed topic at our class reunions. I can see liver and kidneys on the menu! If real liver and kidneys were on the menu, Michelle Obama would probably step in and make changes. Clever idea, and so true. judi

Thanks, judi, for all your feedback. It's nice to know they have a choice. I never eat anything named after a body part--except for breast meat. L0L

You're welcome. I haven't touched beef or hog liver in years. I do like chicken liver. judi

Another clever senryu you have shared with us. Great picture to compliment as well. Alliteration of dinner/discussion and then the old liver/kidney discussions. Funny. 8-)

This made me smile because it's kind of funny. I won't lie I'd wonder if it was my friend that had just passed. I know disgusting right? It's like the high school lunch table all over again. I guess you really do go back to being younger when you get older.
