Isn' t that the way it always seems to go a small business swallowed up by another, who in turn in taken over, etc?
Scary incident with those brakes failing in the driveway. Good thing he knew what to do to get out of there safely.
New ministers usually do make changes that suit them regardless of how it affects other things.

Thanks very much, did you mess up on the points? But whatever you think, I appreciate you coming through this ancient stuff.

It's natural, trusting God, church, religious philosophy activates, goes like this, you have shared your feeling and experience well; faith in God is everything; Baptism is your order of faith; there is no fear at the grace of faith in God; after all God is Omniscient, Omnipotent and Omnipresent; I like truths; well said, well done, post god speed more, share post not 4 self-joy-pride but 4 God and readers worldwide Alcreator Litt Dear (DR)

Thanks, again, old friend. I have been pleased at folks picking this old chapter up again after so long and new reviewers as well.

Nice work. Your faith is encouraging. And your doctrine feels sound. Good work.
I'm with you. Sprinkling is a curious tradition, probably initiated by those who wanted infants baptized and grew tired of giving them pneumonia and them dying.
Best wishes.

Thanks for the greeat review, Wayne. If people only knew the little ones have no need of infant baptism Should they pass in early years (before the age of understanding that is debatable between different groups) They are in the presence of God almighty. You might read somewhere else later in my book about a young teenager I worked with to teach him to play the organ who was handicapped. Even as a mid teen he would not have been mentally responsible for sin, and I believe whenever God takes him he will be in Heaven. Probably in his 50's now I have not seen him for years.

Once again, I'm sorry I missed this post the first time around. I agree with your definition of church.
Miss Doris Rainbow was living there. One day she asked me, or rather pointedly stated....
"I hope you're not becoming 'enamoured' with that Metropolitan Baptist, are you?"
I replied, not really understanding her expression 'enamoured' but I found out later my response was correct...
"I don't know if I'm becoming 'enamoured', Miss Rainbow, but I like going there!" (each person's dialogue gets it's own paragraph.)

I can understand you remarks on the baptism not saving people. Here at home, each church you go to, they want you to be baptized even if you already have been baptized. I never understood it. I've been to all different denominations for the church, and to most of them it was just an initiation rather than having the acceptance of Jesus in your life and that you follow God already. A lot of the Christian churches don't see the Catholic baptism at birth to be the true acceptance to do God's work in life, yet I explained to them that if God hadn't wanted me to be in the church I would never have been baptized.

I hate it when my puter has a hissy fit. I wrote a large response to you and now lost it. Might come back and say more later. Thanks anyway.

Was gonna refer you to my poem I did think I had added in here and I see I did. Thanks again you got this chapter recognized! Yeehaw!

Yeah well infant baptism (and I was Christened) is not consented to by the child. Believer's Baptism is a decision made as a grown up. I have a poem I have written about the Seven Sacraments not saving anyone. Most catholics who have read it don't get it. Can share if you like it is on Fanstory in my Spiritual Book if you wanna look for it, seeing you so kindly review stuff of mine with no reward with I appreciate. I forget it that poem is in this chapter you have read. About re-baptism...even in baptist circles some believers baptism is not accepted for membership of another baptist church. Also Free Presbyterian in Ireland believes exactly the same as our baptist Church but the pastor at the time would not accept the Irish folks' baptism so they were "re-baptised." One more case was a guy from a Brethren background they believe same as us just don't have Pastors mainly "Senior Elders" so he had to be "rebaptized" also. Might be slightly different to what you are saying. Thanks again.

Sorry the computer went wonky on you. I know how that feels. My work computer does it often, and they've been trying to purchase new equipment lately due to the problems.

Simple but it is to the point.
We don't need to be a great orator to touch each others hearts.
We do have similarities in our background.
'Praise the Lord.' We can't get more real than that.
This rating does not count towards story rating or author rank.
The highest and the lowest rating are not included in calculations.

Sankey,
I generally like these posts, but this one was a little rambling, there wasn't a true sense of purpose to it. (IMHO) I think it needs a better flow or order to it, personally. And - btw, since I am a member of the church of Christ, I have to disagree with you about the belief that baptism doesn't save you. *smile* Read Acts and you'll find that in EVERY instance of conversion, baptism is included.
Some other notes:
1.) I initially liked Willy. Roberts.
--> delete that period, please
2.) this left me free to move on. (E)ventually.
Thanks!

Ha so I trod on some corns hey! Trust me to do that. Tell me what about when Jesus said to the thief on the cross when he called out to Jesus to remember Him..."This day shalt thou be with me in Paradise' weren't no water (deliberate slang here)to baptise the thief there.
Thanks for the spags will look into em. Not expecting to be on Fanstory too much longer.

Thanks Robyn I have done the corrections I changed the one you marked about leaving me free to move on

Baptist + Methodist = DISASTER. It was nice to read about scriptural baptism vs the error of sprinkling. More people need to know the difference between baptizo and hortizo....I hope my spelling is correct.

I don't think Baptism guarantees one salvation either. Your reference to the thief on the cross is a good one here. Your perspective on the church and Baptism are very interesting and very thoughtful. Excellent thought that people make up the church. Your reference to the minister who had sinned grievously is good, as it shows that anyone can fall by the wayside. Young and old alike are subject to temptation. judi
