Chapter 30 of the book Burning Memories Self-discovery begins "The Dawning" I thought Tasers were only used by the cops to subdue some unfortunate soul. A sore tooth? Well done.

Glad you noted the analogy. It's great to have poetic license. :-)

You're precious!

I had all my teeth pulled 10 years ago and haven't been back to the dentist since! I don't suggest that's what you do, but seems going to the dentist is not fun for you.

My husband did the same thing rather than have his cavities fixed. He's been wearing dentures since age 35.

HI Shari,
The alliteration in the first line is very effective.
NINE needles?? Ouch! You must be a hard nut to crack!
Nice one, dear.
Love,
Sonali

THe dentist kept testing my lip and gum with a probe. Since I kept flinching, she laid it on-- eager to get the job over with.
But hardly any pain or swelling after it all, so my mouth is in good shaped for a while.
Comment from Muffins
Humorous poem with perfect alliteration using: nine, needle and needed. The description of pain is sensory accurate. I say this because 10 years I had a tooth pulled and required 6 to 7 shots of Novocaine and gas before the Dentist could start. It took days for the numbness and puffiness in my gums and lips to go down. Eating and talking wasn't painful but awkward.

Ouch! I got lucky. Hardly any pain or swelling. I imagine your tooth was firmly imbedded. Mine wiggled a little. But not anymore. :-)

Your words give me chills, novocaine is not fun. I like how you use the letter N frequently and it adds to the strength of the poem.

Thanks for the specific review, my friend.

Great job with the alliteration of n's and your descriptive details are realistic and make it easy for us to connect to your senryu. I can't even feel the slobber running off the edge of my left lift. 8-)

Been to the dentist lately? I can relate. I've had a lot of work done on my teeth through the years. Finally got veneers/caps. Good poem.

I've poured so much money into my mouth in spite of the brushing and flossing. I had some caps once but eventually tooth underneath rotted or need a root canal.

Hi, Shari.
Ouch! Just the idea of sitting in the dentist chair makes me cringe. Your middle line describes so well the result of the nine needles. I hope your feeling better! Great post.
Bye

I'm glad I had it pulled although I tried to back out at the last moment. Decay is not good!
Comment from Patti R.
Before I start sympathizing about the discomfort, let me say wow! to this little gem. Please pardon me for saying, it rolled off the numb tongue like a cool drop of water. So smooth. That middle line is a beaut!
My dentist does the same, tries to preserve all the healthy natural teeth.

LOL. Such a poetic review. Our dentists must have gone to the same school.
Comment from Carolyn 'Deaton' Stephens
Ouch, ouch and double ouch....... Excellent alliteration in:
nine needles needed
I enjoyed the internal rhyme in tongue--gum
Well done, hope you are feeling ok after this 'naughty tooth' experience.

Thanks, Carolyn, for the detailed review. Fortunately, I experienced only mild swelling and pain. I'm brand new now.
