Wine and beer rots our bodies
Children sniff petrol cans .. this is the same situation in Canada - suicides, addiction, no , desperation.

My friend, this poem is very special. It is very well written - it is a sad reminder of the cruelty of the white man on our Mother Earth. It also mourns for the once proud people who lived on Australia before the white man. It is so sad to read such a poem. However, these words need to be heard by others. They are needed to scold those who could have changed things but did not.
This brings to mind the plight of our American Indians. They too prayed to their "Mother Earth." The animals, the water, the wind, were all considered to be relatives; brothers and sisters, aunts and uncles. So many wonderful cultures have disappeared over the centuries because of the white man. I am a white man. I apologize for my race. I must do the same to many others as well. I am ashamed to be white.

I love Australia's gum trees and all of its exotic animals and birds. I've held a roly-poly wombat named Angelina and a koala named Buddy. And I love the forlorn sound of the didgeridoo. I wish you could read my journal from when I lived there. Would send you a copy, but it's nearly 600 pages! ha!

It really is sad, Kay, that the modern world takes away the thousands of years of tradition, and now it's gone. I have heard of different ancient civilizations, whose only records of their history is what they hand down to each generation that succeeds them, by way of song and dance. Many are now lost and there is no getting them back. So sad. I love your stories telling us of the Australia's history, it really is fascinating.
