Hey Dean,
Wow! I felt like I was in a blitzkrieg while reading this powerful poem. Your thoughts and ideas came flying from the page in a way that described the effects of war, in a most emotional way.
And, when will this madness end? Seems to me I read somewhere, that ever since man has been able to write and record his history, there have been conflict's mentioned.
I think Tolkien had the right idea; the only way we're going to finally get it together is if we have a common foe...like an invasion of dragons or something. People need to remember we all bleed the same color.
Great idea and presentation in this one, I see why it won.
Hey, isn't that two this week? Way to go!... later, Bill

Thanks a million, Bill, and as far as contest wins go, who's countin', LOL?
I am really glad that you enjoyed this. It was my first attempt at writing a blitz poem, and it was far more difficult for me than I thought it would be.
Thanks so much again, my friend, I truly appreciate the complimentary review and six stars.

I like this poem and the way it was written. I have never heard of this style and find it very easy to read. It flows well, almost like a song. Jane

Thank you very much, faragon, and I hadn't heard of it either, yet decided to try and write one just the same. I am very pleased that you are happy with the results.
Thanks so much for your review.~Dean

No, Dean, we will never learn. It is not in man's nature. We have learned nothing from the past. We will continue to rationalize and justify our horrific actions because of "a greater good". Insanity. This is the most depressing, but it is the best. Good luck.

Hi Dean. Well, you nailed the rules. good one and needed in today's world news. Nope, we haven't learned yet and I am sad to say...perhpas as long as we want and we want , war is a by product. I liked the roll in this poem, the relentless roll and call to the bell...that dang thing that tolls and calls and no onelistens to until unitl it is too late too late.

Thanks so much, padu, and as usual, your review and comments are very perceptive. This...Blitz... style of poetry, as by the very way it is intended to be formatted, tended to lend itself to a spiraling, tumbling madness, of sorts. And what greater madness is there than war?
Thanks so much again. I truly appreciate it.

WOW--what a potent entry for the blitz contest. Superb intensity matches the tone and tenor of your theme, Dean. Great rhyme and flow too. True to form and powerfully presented. I'm sure it will garner votes for its impressive intensity. Heavy and impacting. Very sad closing note. Would have liked to see a note of optimism somewhere in there! (That's me). The picture is graphic and befitting too. Bravo

Excellent delve into imaginations about death and within the core of the piece, glimpses of the desperation for survival. Alas, fate must win and death must begin its new journey. Well done, Dean.

Fascinating romp through the punkin' patch of horrors - real life horror and historical memory of man's inhumanity to man suffered not so long ago and flickering back on during our time on earth. Is there something in man's DNA, collectively, that can't learn the horrific lessons from the past? It's more than disturbing to think about, but we must.
Can we stop it? Time will tell. Hate to see more Hell on earth.
Super presentation and choice of words in this well written Blitz poem. The hardest thing to do in a Blitz poem is to stick to a theme as they tend to wander all over the place. You stuck to the theme with strong words and vivid imagery - not for the squeamish.
Super job all the way around. You should include this Blitz poem in one of your future books. Cheers ... ;o)

This blitz poem depicts the ugliness of war. It continues the them throughout of the horror and needles death that war brings. A timely piece in todays world.
