Geoff,
My youngest daughter has something really really similar to what you're talking about with your vertigo. We finally got a diagnosis with her, too, but it took forever and a day - that stuff is hard to figure out!! (I can't remember what it was now. Yes, you can call me a horrid mother. )
I am so bothered by folks who cannot be bothered to be at all sympathetic to the issues someone else is dealing with. Grrr....
Since most of my issues are mental I get it. My GP once told me that if I had a broken arm or leg people could SEE my problem and understand that I had major problems and could commiserate, but since all my problems were internal and invisible, there was no way they could really 'get it'. That helped me put things in perspective. I can see that it's hard for them to see it. BUT they should also believe me or trust me enough to know that when I say I'm dealing with stuff, I really AM. Right???
Ugh.
I'm sorry you have to deal with stupidity - but I am glad you share your stories. Hugs-

Thanks, Robyn, Louise's disability is obvious Cerebral Palsy as you say all mine are hidden. Appreciate your understanding review.

This is very interesting, Geoff, and your irony is not lost on me. I must say, though, that you've had quite a few health issues to deal with throughout your life. All best, Ulla:)))

Thank you Ulla, I felt sure there were a few "old friends" in here who had not read these chapters and I was glad I found these letters to add to them and put up for more of you to read. I had All Time already so not looking for points thanks.

It is good you now take better care of yourself. My neighbor has vertigo; she suffers much from the problem. I can imagine your feelings, and I wish you a more healthy life. Thanks for sharing, Sanke

Thanks, the second part of my autobiography title is - God Never Lets Go.
Comment from Jannypan (Jan)
You did a great job detailing your experiences. What stood out the most for me were the two types of doctors and the fact that family was absent/not believing etc in your health issues. I applaud you for hanging in there and being the best person you can depute all that. I wish you well. I know this is several years old from the days posted, but my sentiments are the same. Take care.
Thanks for sharing.
Respectfully, Jan

Thanks Jan, I had the full points thing for All Time Best but felt seeing I discovered those letters it was worth adding them and sharing again.

I found this chapter vert interesting as well. The vertigo is something I have from time to time. There are some instruction on the internet that involve practically standing on you head to drain something in your inner ear. Luckily mine only last a few our but I hate the feeling nausea. I usually try to keep my eyes closed until in passes. I taken the Tim Lahaye test and it showed I have a sanguine, melancholy, phlegmatic equal combination with no choleric. The other three weren't extremely strong but equal. For a while I was testing everyone. I don't get along to well with the choleric temperments. LOL.

I have a very slight Choleric mostly Sanguine and Melancholy. We are not supposed to tell people what we think the are hehe. I thin k the writing and music is the melancholy father in law and our former pastor were Choleric but pastor was also Melancholy as a singer. The new pastor is Choleric and sanguine and a tad melancholy. Thanks and glad you enjoyed this.

Hey there. Nice write. I'm sorry you have so many health problems, they are such a pain and really affect our quality of living. I really liked you comments about the two Kinds of doctor. I've been lucky enough to only meet the one who care for the patients but I can definitely imagine the other kind is not so fun.
Look after yourself!

I see that you re-promoted this, Geoff, from seven years ago. I hope your doctor was able to help you with the vertigo. And what a walking miracle you are to have had hydrocephaly at birth. God has definitely been working in your life!

Thanks for the lovely review. I did not need any more points but seeing these letters turned up I felt folks might like the extra info. Yes Sis (I think) you are right about God's hand on me. The subtitle of this autobiography is "God Never Lets Go!" Still a work in progress though even at, now, 70.

We are all works in progress! I wonder what we will look like in Heaven. But somehow, we'll recognize our Fanstory friends There.

I liked your insights a lot and have much to say in accord and against the content. Not sure this is the forum but new to this site so what the ...., I will proceed. First of all, at 67, I agree that the balance of sympathy and empathy seems out of balance (is that vertigo?). My eldest daughter, at 40, has bipolar plus most other ailments she has read about and developed into is an expert Pity-Fisher. As we no longer respond to her frequent fishing expeditions, to her mind, adequately enough, I guess we are like your friends and family who no longer want to hear your woes. Does that make us selfish? I think not. Just enough is enough. Some people set themselves up as victims in life and make it their "raisin d'etre" . I hope and trust you are not one of these. We all have our troubles and need a bit of support, but in balance.
As an aside, it seems like the older we get the more ailments they invent that I never heard of before. We just have to deal with them one day at a time.
Hope this doesn't offend. This is not my intention.
One final thought, my wife recently suffered from attacks of vertigo and after one of the "A" doctors spent lots of our money on CAT and MRI scans with no result. Another doctor did a quick 5 minute test and determined she had crystals forming in her semi-circular canals in her ears, stopping the fluid from moving properly. The test, involving moving her head abruptly several times, was also the cure. You might want to suggest this to your doctor or ENT.

Thanks Bob so nice to meet another FS'er. Appreciate your great review. Have had all these attitudes over the years. My Mother str=ugeld to bring me and my brother up for years with no help my our Dad who left us when I was 8. No Single Mother's Pensions in those days. When the Psychiatrist wanted to speak to my Mum about my medical history in later years (1988) she was most offended he would ask her these questions. I carried a lot of my problems for many years...they did not grow in old age they were present but undiscovered. Both our Docs said I could have been on Disability all my life. I am glad I was a taxpayer for 28 years. Thanks for coming along. Will look for your stuff I believe in reciprocating in FS.

Hi Sankey, thanks for getting back to me. I see my first response and it doesn't have my last line, so not sure if you got it. My wife got vertigo following a nose op and it turned out to be crystals forming in her ears stopping the fluid moving properly. A quick shake-up by the ENT solved the problem. Maybe you want to ask your Doc about this?
Cheers

Bob I think I saw that. I have had a Middle Ear infection for ages that was never cleared up so I am taking Doxycyclin for that same drug as teen take for bad acne actually. It does improve hearing from tie to time.

great. Just making sure. The first guy cost us R14,000 to achieve NOTHING. What's that, about $1000. Medical aid only paid the first R3,500, so there goes living the high-life for a while.

I like musings on stuff. This is interesting, if diffuse, and it kept my attention, which means, by definition, it's a successful bit of writing. I hope to wander by another bit from you sometimes and read more Stuff. (I'm in Tas, BTW)

Hi Sallyo always good to meet another Aussie on FS. Are you on Facebook? We had a"Our Trips" book on here from all our travels around Australia a while ago including Tassie. Sadly that account no longer exists. Long story. We are a disabled couple. If you look at the end of my biography there are five chapters on my wife's recent time in Hospital from a Right Rotator Cuff injury. I only got this out again as I had learned that recent info on my Vertigo only last week from a Renal Specialist I was seeing. Hope to check your stuff out too. I love "reciprocating!" We are in Penrith NSW.

I'm on FaceBook under my real name (Sally Odgers) and also my pen name (Lark Westerly). As Sally, I write for children and also how-to books. As Lark, I write saucy romance. Most people know we're the same person, but I do school jobs sometimes, and so I use the Lark name to avoid having any of the saucy stuff show up to children who run a search for my books. I'll "fan" you so I can keep up with your writing. I review in patches.
-
Thanks mate. Good to be in touch. I am not all that fussed about Fantasy but I liked my first foray into your stuff.
-
Hi Sallyo I messaged you on Face book. You might rather not be friends over there as I am one of the No's for SS marriage ok!
-
I'll look next time I'm on FB. I don't have a problem with No voters or with Yes voters. The ideal solution, as I see it, is for the SS folk to have every legal and social courtesy but to call their partnerships something else. Not saying so in public though. Most of my leftie friends would want to lynch me. (not really...)
-
AMEn mate fer shore. And the lefties are showing their true colours they way they are treating folks who want to stand up for the No position. I bet you won't see the same behaviour from the No crowd. Sally it is all gonna go through any7way. All part ofd the End times my friend. We have gone way past whatever God destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah for, already. OK off my soap box now friend me if you like.
-
Sally have a look at my poem about Hate Equalling Murder. It is on Facebook and in my Spiritual Poems on FS.
