I'm always left breathless and amazed with your stories and your awesome talent.
A thrilling roller coaster ride of conflicting emotions: the disgusting unfairness the rich have in the justice system ,and battle scarred hero trying to figure out which is the right thing to do. The stakes for the Detective is high and the ending still has him torn. A realistic finish.
There's only one hiccup in this fantastic piece. In the beginning you introduce the main character as Detective Marcus. However, just before he kicks the door down his name changed to Detective Simmons. It only happened once, so I'm sure it's a slip.

Thank you very much. I forgot the last name in that line. It's Marcus Simmons

Yes, it's a fairly dark tale and the act of kindness is actually a killing, so not your usual definition.... but that may give you an edge in the contest.
Good luck.

This is the kind of story that stirs emotions. One that creates anger bordering rage for your readers, and although there is no chance of true justice, there is hope to end the spree. Thanks for another of your outstanding stories. :-)

Given all that is happening in the news today, I get a sad sense of satisfaction from this. Nicely written, lancellot. I like the twist to the act of kindness.

A sick or injured animal would be shown the kindness of a bullet. A human would not. This is very well written with a smooth flow of words.

Wow! This is well written and is a rather creative take off on an act of kindness. Most perverts don't really want to die though. They just want to keep doing what they're doing.

This was a great story. The descriptive writing was very tense and vivid. The criminal did deserve to spend the rest of his life in prison, but the detective's "act of kindness" probably guarantee the surest justice. Good luck!

I think you should have posted this in horror. I did like the moral dilemma Marcus had to go through. He did what the perp wanted and maybe got some satisfaction out of it, but in reality we all want the bad guys to go before his peers and face justice. I liked this.

Hello Friend,
Nice piece of Mystery and Crime Fiction meeting the desired parameters and beautifully depicting its theme/ Simple as well as impressive wording/ Smooth and captivating flow, particularly towards the end, with lively imagery.
The core of the theme lies in these lines:
"Enough talk...............................Dear Lord.."
Excellent and Good Luck!
