It is a couple that have nothing left to say anymore. The husband doesn't acknowledge the elephant, but she does by tossing the peanuts,,The husband probably skootches over to let the elephant on the couch to watch the game.. haha I am okay, but going fishing. cheers judester

I hope you cheer up soon and everything improves for you. Simple message conveys your thoughts of being lost. Good use of language and super illustration. Faye

A poem of lack of communication between two people. The woman acknowledges the elephant or problem, by giving it peanuts and the husband probably made room for the elephant on the couch. Thanks for the review, cheers judester

An elephant in the room is an expression that means there is something to talk about, but nobody wants to talk... (like, 'hey there's an elephant in the room!) The relationship is over so the woman, who acknowledges the elephant (by giving him peanuts) is sad. Thanks for the review, cheers judester

Funny how something so distinctive as an elephant
can take on so many guises. Peanuts and platitudes
never amount to much.
An interesting topic, and an interesting poem.

Peace, Lee
