You have a wonderful gift to weave darkness into something magical. In truth, I read your stuff when I need to be reminded that the shadows do exist. This was simply perfection and I do have to agree with you that some of the best at horror are those with the deepest capacity for compassion and love. Nicely done and I thank you so much for sharing this with me.

Great story. I'm a bit of a chicken, just the sight of the old woman would have sent me in the other directions, no warnings necessary. LOL

I will be waiting to read if Timmy and Danny get out of their situation alive.

Tremendous character development especially with Timmy. We see a little growth and a side of his character( strength, staying true to himself) that will hopefully grow out of being Danny's side kick.

Hi Dean,

Did you mean to say plaid pockets? Marvelous description of Ms. Dimwitty. This is a terrific chapter which can't help but pull the reader in. I could see your characters and the environment so clearly. Well done.

Hugs,
Lou

Thanks, Lou, I'm very glad you're enjoying the story and following along. I really appreciate that.

When I was young, I wanted nothing but Levis brand jeans, but they were too expensive, my very practical father always told me. So, he would buy Plain Pockets brand jeans from JC Penny's, and I absolutely hated the way those things fit. Looking back now, dad had two other boys and a wife to think about. I should have been grateful just to get the new jeans, no matter what brand they were. My two younger brothers always got stuck with my hand-me-downs, and rarely got brand new clothes.

I have to tell you, my friend, I got so wrapped up in the story, I totally forgot to look for spag. Nothing jumped out at me though. You've done a great job keeping your characters "in character" and I have a feeling this isn't the last we'll see of Ms. Irene Dimwitty. I wonder what else she's hauling out of there besides an old wreath. :))
I like the fact that Timmy has a temper, so best not to tick him off. LOL. Your characters so far are very down to earth; the story line easy to follow. I'm really getting into this and will be waiting on pins and needles for part 4. Great work, Dean!! :)shawn

Thanks a bunch, Moon, I'm really happy to know that you're diggin' the story (did you catch that shameless pun? "Diggin'...as in cemeteries? Oh, I'm such a nut case, lol!)

You are right, too about Ms. Dimwitty. She's a lot more than she seems to be. I really wanted that down-to-earth feel to come through in the writing, it's an integral cog in the way the entire story reads. I'm very grateful you see it as such.

Thanks again for your wonderful review, and the fabulous rating. Your support of what it is I try and do here has always meant a great deal to me.

I love the way you portray these two kids. One minute they're worried about their torn "plain pockets" and the next they're trying to scare up ghosts. Your artwork is great; very "postcard-ish". The black and white photos compliment your story. Well done, as usual, Dean.

As I said after readings your last horror piece, you have made a believer of this genre. Excellent read Dean. Wonderful character development. I love the dialog and friendship between Timmy and Danny. The Mrs. Dimwitty character is inspired. Excellent piece!

Blessings
Janet

Hey Dean,
I enjoyed this installment of the continuing "quest" of our hero's. Good character development and dialog between the players. The sentence near the bottom of the write, "As God is my witness...beat the crap out of you", needs quotation marks. Other than that, a solid enjoyable read. See you in the next chapter, my friend, Bill

Brilliant, Dean, I just wish the chapters came faster, you have me drooling for the next part every time! I thought Mrs Irene Dimwitty was a stroke of genius, and her story of what lies between the graves, I tell you, I wouldn't go there! The boys friendship is getting even better, more equal now that Timmy has thrashed Danny, how to make friends and keep them! lol. Excellent again! xsx Sandra
