A fun poem with descriptions that create vivid imagery. That cowpoke certainly is dedicated to winning the battle of wills. I can almost see him dusting himself off and going at it one more time. The notes are helpful in understanding the lingo. Strong rhymes.

This is totally cool. A surprise from you, didn't know that you knew about this stuff except for your story. This has your usual perfect rhyme and meter and that lends itself so well to this piece. A great read. Love it, mikey

Brings back memories of the California State Fair in Sacramento. We watch bucking bronco and bulls as well as enjoying the rides in the amusement area. I was a teenager then and we camped out in an open field near the fairground. No one discovered us. Excellent sonnet full of expertly conceived rhyme, rhythm, and message.

Nancy, This poem is clever and proves that you are a master of the western style. The art work was perfect to enhance your poetic words. I just love the new path that you have taken in your style of writing. All of your work in wonderful, but you do have a special talent with the western rhythm. Love It! Carole

your well penned words and vivid images allows the reader to see the day of a bronco rider and his will and determination to win before the day is finished and he retires for the night
good enjambment to allow flow in verses
good rhyme theme through out not forced
good alliteration in
reached, ride
sprang, spurs, side
set, seconds
couldn't. cowpoke
bronco, bucked, before
there, that, this
buster, barking
flows well easy read
cheers Smoothiecool

It is about a bronco buster not rider. Someone who breaks horses on a ranch for a living not a rodeo star. LOL Thanks for the review SC. Have a good day. Nancy

Nancy, I like how you describe the ups and downs of being a bronco buster. Such a seemingly tough way to make a living. But there again that is the cowboy way and the cowboy life. I always wanted to be a cowboy, but, I grew up in Ohio with the farmers. Well done friend,,,,,Jim

Jim and I grew up in IL. When we got to Nevada he bought our first horse and we continued from there. LOL Ending with buying ranch property where I live today. Thanks for reviewing Jim. Have a good day! Nancy

I've been to the rodeo once in my life and it was way too dangerous for my gentile ways. But, it was exciting. You've captured the spirit of the bucking bronco and the courage of the rider very well in this excellent sonnet.

Yes, I agree with you but my husband like the life and I was always supportive. LOL I watched the kids or found other distractions while there when it got dangerous. Thanks for the review. Have a nice day! Nancy

TREMENDOUS! You write about cowboy life like maybe you were raised on a ranch. How did you know those cowboy words?
I'm impressed with the rhyming words. I assume you are going to, or have published a book of these western poems.

I have learned some reading westerns, watching westerns but mostly around the campfire on trail rides or at the saddle club in the 60's and 70's. Thanks for the six Jerry . Cowboys nearly always have good humor and love to talk that way around greenhorns and that's what we were when we bought our first horse and joined the saddle club in 1959. Have a great day! Nancy
