The lingo paints a horror scene in all its stark reality. Innocence in the form of a boy, has already fallen victim and man is left to face his worst instinct; his lust for death. "Isn't the fire pretty.?" The whole scene is no worse than a crucifixion; something so horrible that Christ's last words were; "OH Lord, why hast thou forsaken me?" Do we not need a God to protect us from the savagery of our own instincts? But even Satan was God's fallen angel.

Well written. I does math the traditional form of micro -fiction, a flash without the twit ending. I like the authentic dialect used to give the piece the proper period feeling. Is that picture from the Darkest Knight story line?

Nice short scene that conveyed much. I love the dialogue and the fact that you can practically hear the drawl in their tone!
Nice job.

What a strange mixture of lore and tradition making for a good tale to tell late at night in summer sitting around a campfire. Spooky. And Satan got his comeuppance in the end even if it was only temporary. Good tale. Fun.

Congratulations on winning the Supernatural Flash Fiction contest. By what I'm sure was coincidence, I noticed Jebediah's last name as being Satan in your introduction sentence. Another great story at leaves us readers feeling that cold wind that gives us a chill. Great job. :-)

Thanks, Ric, I appreciate the review, my friend. My wife picked up on the clue right away too, but she was a little confused as to what the Illuminati were, the branch of the Catholic Church that the living Jubal Bircham worked under as a priest. I don't mention them specifically, but no other branch of the church would go after demons in such a manner.

Hey, Dean, thanks for the clarification. Having read enough of our work to know that you take most of your work from actual happenings, myths, and so on, I figured there was some logical background information, and I'm glad to know. Thanks, Ric.

A great story with strong effects, I must say, especially after I read your note and got the name right. So Satan is brought to justice. I enjoyed the idea, and, yes, the story too.

Good story, well written and meets the challenge. The characters and language are colorful. The backward spelling of Satan is a nice riddle, and no, i didn't figure it out on my own

Thanks for your feedback, seaglass, and I'm glad you liked the riddle, as well as the story. You're not alone, very few, save for a couple, I think, have made the connection until they read the author's notes.
Again, I appreciate your support in my literary efforts. Much obliged!

Baby won't you light my fire. Haha. That was probably just a warm bath to Satan. But no mater. Jubel dead or alive still got his man. Good Job. Nancy

Thanks, Nancy. And thanks too for posting your stories from your book, Rainbow Ridge. I learned a great deal about western jargon from reading them. This is my first rodeo, so to speak, when writing anything that remotely has to do with the Old West, so I appreciate your feedback. You should know! LOL...
