There is no praise for Adolph Hitler from me ever. Twisted minds vindictive hate toward a culture no matter who is never justified in the eyes of the Lord. More than Jewish culture were in the ovens. When humanity places self to be judge , jury, and executioner of God's creation, grace is given for a time for repentance. I doubt Hitler or any of his cronies ever repented. Thanks for sharing. Shalom.

Wow! That was a powerful piece. We humans always love to look at injustice and perceived wrongs, asking (blaming) God why these things could happen. Very few of us it seems ever think of giving forgiveness, only receiving it. This is an image I'll not soon forget.

What an amazing poem, Dean and your authors notes were mind blowing. You certainly know your subject. I just cannot for any reason understand how any one person can decree a nation as one that needs to be exterminated. Children murdered, what sort of people to they think they are to be capable of murdering infants? No one, not one single person has the right to judge and murder another, for any reason. I really enjoyed your poem, I loved the way you showed Jesus taking a Nazi to His side and kissing his cheek. Excellent! xsx sandra

Wow! what an amazing read Dean I love the moral. I love rhyme that tells a story. Interesting subject though, I am sure you will get some very diverse and interesting comments from both perspectives. A brave poet who takes on Religious and political beliefs and its a testimony to your ability to take on a subject and show compassion and dignity to a race and group of people frown upon and held in disdain by many in the world.

just one little pick up I don't know whether its just my lack of grammar skills or an error but in the verse:
Not just any soldier, he looked much older than those I'd seen before,
a red swastika band beneath Christ's hand; I felt then, I knew the score.
Surely, Jesus was scolding, the rifle--holding, as the man rose to his feet,
"Heaven's firing squad, I though as they trod, Christ then led him up the street..." should read?...
"Heaven's firing squad, I THOUGHT as they trod, Christ then
led him up the street..."

It seems that hating is easy and diversified. The hard part is to accept and to love--or, is it really that hard? After all, are we all so different? We were made in His image.

I wanted to read this poem because of its title. I was pleasantly surprised when I read the piece what I would get out of it. I liked the fact the individual visiting wanted to stay & his loved ones had to gently push him away. Having the soldier be a Nazi was a twist I wasn't expecting but it was a strong statement nonetheless. This was written very intelligently with a good message behind it. Yes, they are taken directly from Hitler's memoirs, MagKing. Pretty amazing the way he justified genocide, don't you think? What's even more disheartening is that he actually believed the hate he spewed. Such a tragedy...

But regarding to the soldier...Are you referring to Hitler? Do you mean he made heaven?

No, the soldier in the poem isn't Hitler, just one of thousands of his SS officers responsible for the slaughter of millions of Jews, Romanians, blacks, gays...anyone who was not of Aryan descent. The quotes simply show the propaganda he fed the soldiers in his armies, as well as the German people at the time.
