OMG! That was some twist at the end, lol, gone in the blink of an eye! You are so hilariously funny, Bill, some of these could be used at Christmas, they are to funny to be locked away. I'm hoping you'll publish them. Well done again! :)) Sandra xx

Thank you, Sandra. Your reviews are so very positive.

This is very well written. Your protagonist has a real challenge and has overcome it with humor. I'll have to remember some of those jokes if I ever find myself with a glass eye - God forbid. Lou

What an original idea, Bill! I loved how you introduced Billy and his conflict. Seriously, I bet it would be difficult to socialize with such a prosthetic.
Excellent resolution of the conflict and play on words! Rod

Comment from Dean Kuch
Hah, well, this was definitely clever and very funny, Bill. At least Billy had a good viewpoint concerning his particular infirmity. Some might be bitter and hostile, always keeping an eye on everyone to see whether or not someone is ogling them. Not Billy, though. He kept a positive attitude, always realizing that hindsight is considered 20/20 vision.
General "Stormin'" Norman Schwarzkopf said it best:
"You can't help but... with 20/20 hindsight, go back and say, 'Look, had we done something different, we probably wouldn't be facing what we are facing today."
I rarely read the stories in a contest in which I am involved until the contest is over. Call it superstition. But, I thought this one was excellent!

Thank you, Dean, for taking a look at this. This was apparently an eye sore to many reviewers. "If thine eye offends thee..."

...pluck it out, lol!
You're very welcome, Bill.

Wonderful, upbeat piece about someone who is different. Sometimes you need a friend to make you see that it's alright and you need to move forward. Everyone should be so lucky to have a witty friend like Winchell.
Good luck with the contest.

Ha ha! Sweet! I love the punch line of this story. How on earth did you think of this? The story was amazing and stayed well within the rules of the contest. Great job building the character and conflict in so few words. Good luck with the contest.

Aye! Aye, Cap'n. You have a funny one here. This is really a vaudeville routine in a story. There was a great film with Steve Martin playing the guy with the huge nose. "Roxanne" was the film. He steps into a tavern where every idiot about, makes fun of his nose. Like your character, he fends them off with aseries of riveting rejoinders that sets everyone at ease. Good LUck!

I love the picture. I love the story. I have been taught to laugh about things I think people would make fun of. I still make fun of my flat chest. Some people are like vultures. They smell others weakness and hone in on it. They smell fear, shame and embarrassment. Great work.

To the author of Insight. Clever title for your little ditty! This is an excellent way to look at a disability and with the play on words, makes it humorous. Nice job. Carole
