Yeah, she really wanted me to dress up that day but could not tell me why, of course, hehe. Thanks for this lovely rewardless review.

Nice of her to surprise you with a party.

Situation with the young lady, and her promotion, unfortunate way those things occur sometimes.

Interesting goings on and trips. Sure you were happy you could make them when you were able to.

I left work just slightly before you when I had to give up work to take care of my father in 1995. My husband had retired at 56 so he was already retired. We did some traveling in 1997 and later. I enjoyed your story. I'm sorry you have dealt with so many health problems. I don't understand why you wife wasn't treated well by her family. It wasn't her fault she had MS.

Not MS. Cerebral Palsy. She was a very independent lady. God prepared me years before as you should have read, to meet and marry her. Even to being the only one applying for the promotion that resulted in me meeting her. Thanks for coming by. Our Queen has died, sadly.

Yes I realized after reading the other post it was Cerebral Palsy instead of MS.

Hello! Your disenchantment
with your former job sounds
just like the U.S. government
and it's dragging of its feet
when it's own war veterans
came home and were grossly
neglected. The politicians
finally passed a burn pits bill
that provides treatment for
the burn pits injuries. Anyway,
just giving an example of
the malfeasance of some
countries' governments.
Glad to hear you got a
pension from yours. Very
good writing of you and
your wife's experiences and
travel ventures. Many
blessings ~

Thanks new friend, I think. Appreciate you coming by. I got these out again to try and get them over the "A;; Time" line and I seem to have achieved that in a lot of the chapters. I had a ton of "funny money" to use seeing I have been suffering writers block and COVID and Depression and stuff. Nice to meet you.

Great post and more fill in. You both are so sweet and a gift to each other in this world. Your lives, work, ministry and travel speak volumes. I'm glad you know the Lord and are saved from this corrupt world.

Love the poem, and its outrageously perceptive.

Sending you my best today as always

Glad you picked up on the poem. I am also glad I have got these all out, again as I felt sure heaps had not been around when they first got done. Thanks for the lovely review. I am hoping to get my Really Truly Christmas carols re-promoted before my funny money runs out.

This work has reached the exceptional level

A few ups and downs in this chapter. I know how difficult it can be with government departments to arrange things so that husband and wife can work together in the same geographical area. I had to laugh about the time change error. I've been caught that way, too in the 'between seasons' times. Your song is a cheerful reminder of the perils of working in a government department! An interesting and enjoyable read.

This is an interesting read.
It was a blessing for a member of your family to take over your house payment.
Nice photos. The images shown support the writing.
The author's notes are appreciated. Thank you.
Thanks for sharing.
Good luck with your future writing.

Mostly fine, Geoff. A few oddities though...

"In 1994 we both managed to get placed in the new Penrith ATO*," (It is nice to see you make a note later that describes what you marked with an asterisk. But in this case, it wasn't necessary. Here is an earlier line...)

"Louise and I had been working in a couple of different areas of the Australian Tax Office," (At this point, you could have shown the abbreviation in parenthesis)
"Louise and I had been working in a couple of different areas of the Australian Tax Office, (ATO) in our final years of employment." (Once this was done, there is no need to add an asterisk whenever the ATO acronym appears, nor even make a note of it in the author's notes, unless there is something that needs to be explained that is not readily apparent in the text.)

"...in 1991, to organise a 'Surprise' Birthday party for my 40th," (I really should stop by your place in Australia, Geoff, and smack you on the snout with a rolled-up newspaper... I'm going to get you trained on this eventually. The problem is that there are apparent differences between British and American English where single and double quote marks go. In American grammar, single quotes are used for "nested" quotes, such as dialogue quoted within dialogue, for "scare" quotes which means the word is not agreed with, such as women's 'rights' - when the author is professing that the rights he is mentioning are not really rights at all. Or, if the word selected has a meaning normally not attached to it.

In the case above, you could use single quotes for 'surprise' birthday party, if it was evident in your writing that you knew it was going to happen from the start, so it was never a real surprise. But again, because of the difference n our two grammars, I am just going to try and get you trained to use single quotes only when quoting within someone else's dialogue.)

I can't explain completely what compromises and, or favours this young lady may have had to make or give. (I don't know if this is another of those British/American things, but we express "and/or" with a slash.)

Did you pick up the little animated thingy in your replies from Dean Kuch?
reply by the author on 13-May-2017
Yes, I meant to acknowledge that sorry. Isn't he clever? Tom does not like us using them in reviews something to do with Bandwidth or something but Dean thinks replies to reviews is ok for its use.

Your powerful and vivid descriptions is one of your strongest points. The chapter started out with long non-dialogue writing which would have discouraged me reading to the end if it wasn'st for the said vivid descriptions.

And thanks for the poem at the end.

Have a fabulous weekend ahead,
Apky

Thanks I will look at the beginning again and see what I can do. One of my longest reviewers has been encouraging me to come up with more JOY in my posts so I am working on that. Sometimes hard. Cheers.

I enjoyed this non-boring read and all the details about family... your & wife's jobs, retirement and planning adventures to celebrate it... here & there in Australia, such a beautiful country with then it seemed a lot of open space; outback to discover...And don't feel bad about not seeing the US, and now until Trump can fix some of the problems, with such terrible high crime still rampant...even now in areas that once were free of that.

I do plan to go over it yet again & get a magnifying glass to look at the photos displayed...And had no problem following it and understand how trying it can be long trips with roads or terrain that doesn't cooperate...and a lot of land to cover that aren't traveled everyday by others, and then.. with aches & pains that followed such a bumpy ride.....Well, something you would do then & probably not again....Also liked the poem about Bureaucrats, the way an Aussie would come up with it...Well, here in the US, I have one for the Democrats.

Yeah, Sis you mean the DEMONRATS thanks for a swell review. I know I have not gone into a lot of detail. If I stay here long enough I might Ghost write my wife's more detailed book on our travels. Not sure how much I have shared we did have 2 accounts on FS but were very unfairly treated long story for some other time. Love in Him
