This is real deep.
When I read your poem
I wonder if I should had this message on my wrist when that time comes. Is it fair to my love one. Then again I do it because I love them.
This is what I call a food for thought poem... meaning after you read it you go mm.

Thanks, misscookie. I'm glad you appreciate it. It makes me feel less alone, that I'm not the only one who has that strange feeling when I have to ponder these types of things. You hit the nail on the head when you said, "I do it because I love them." And then I wonder how much do I love them too? It's hard.

Very short and sobering poem and makes one think about there own mortality. Good read, good job and keep up the good work

Oh my, that can sure pose a conundrum. How do you not help someone when you know it is in your means? This is well done. Good luck.

This is a tough subject and you've handled it with finesse. My mother had a living will and I hated the withdrawal of hydration. I made sure to cross that part out in mine.
Best wishes,
Rita

Thank you, Rita. Yes, it is a tough subject, and with HIPAA, it's really hard to discuss.

I really like this. So many people feel this way about life in general. My aunt has a living will that says do not keep her alive by machines. This brought that to mind. REally good writing. Hey, where are James and Ranna?

Hi, TOMORAL. My screenwriting class is on a break, and I am hoping to get back on revision this weekend. :)

A purely work of art. I really enjoyed reading this, Aiona. I felt the angsty on this piece. Keep up the good work and good luck on the contest. :)

This Tanka follows the form well. The subject matter is sensitive and important. I feel this is quite good.

I found no fault with this work.

Wow! Now that would be a tough call! I think I'd have to ignore it, even so...still tough! This looks like a winning entry! Blessings to you tonight!

I wish I could ignore it too. I am bound by law to follow advanced directives, though, as they were made by the patient. To ignore it would be 1) ignoring a patient's wishes. 2) setting me up for a lawsuit to lose my license (my livelihood, on which my family depends).

I know....my husband will be in this position with his older brother, and he has to follow his wishes! You keep your job, you are doing the right thing! Blessings!
