Take everything I said in my previous review and apply it to this one. I especially like the quote: The fear of death follows from the fear of life. A man who lives fully is prepared to die at any time. ~Mark Twain Great work with this one.

Thanks again. ~Dean

Dean, I really like your multimedia creations. Many of them contain music, some of them animations, all of them some interesting picture, most of which as far as I know are original works of yours -- are they? If not, that's fine too, though I'd be interested to know where you get them, if so. :-)
This was quite a nice piece about the gentle giving up of one's life to death incarnate. Death can be a terrifying thing, especially in its traditional form, the bone grim reaper. But the kiss of this being is as a lover taking him home, as opposed to something to fear.
Nice imagery. Also frankly I liked your use of the word susurrous. Not many know that word and even fewer dare use it in a piece of fiction really for that reason: If no one knows the word, then it makes a piece harder to understand. To make such choices is to demonstrate an integrity of work.
Thanks for sharing. :-)

Thank you for such an in depth review, Edward, and I am glad you appreciate my unique multimedia approach. Not all do. It's one of those you love it, or you hate it kinda things.
As far as the photos, I get a lot of them from photobucket, the same place that Gungalo--the undisputed queen of romance here at FS--gets hers. Others, I created myself.
I often use a lot of archaic vernacular and the like, probably because I've studied Poe's work so extensively. It simply seems to ...POP out of my brain, then onto the page, without me even thinking about it. It gets me mixed reviews, at times, but not too badly.
Thanks again for the fabulous review. I sincerely appreciate it.

Hi Dean,
I must say I was looking out my window to see where that beeping was coming from, lol. Anyway, I enjoyed the simplistic truth of this story. By the way, I am no longer getting your postings in my message box and don't know why. It's only on days I peruse the postings on the home page that I stumble on your work.
Hugs,
Lou

Many thanks to you, Maureen. If you want to keep getting my posts, check to see if you are still a "fan". Or, perhaps you still are and somehow my notifications got turned off. Just look at your fans page--writers you are following--and have a look-see.
Thanks again. I really appreciate it.
Comment from Gungalo
Very good Dean. I like the way you set up the beeping in this one. It is almost believable. I thing it has gone beyond your norm.

Thank you, Gungalo, what a wonderful compliment. Although it placed poorly in the prompt, I'm still happy to have written it. After Alvin's passing, I wanted to attempt to convey that death for someone who is physically hurting isn't necessarily something to fear. Mourn, certainly, but not fear.
Thanks very much again. Your comments meant a lot.

You did well as far as I am concerned.

This has a nice peaceful feeling to it. Death comes as an expected and welcome friend. Nothing to be feared here. I enjoyed the quotations in the notes that support your message that Death is not to be feared.

"Death is not the end , but a new beginning..." Your teaser speaks a lot of things and it made me wonder if I will not be afraid if I die, say today? Well, I'm not ready to die but I envied your courage to write about dying. Good work.

Oddly, I like this though it captures the twilight of life vividly. I'm with Mark Twain and happily, my few regrets are not in what I failed to try or do.
Frankly, I didn't get the use of this picture, but that is probably just me.
Great job in short order...my favorite kind. :) Carrie

Thanks very much, Carrie. I'm very grateful for the read & review, and for sharing your thoughts with me about it.

Of course, you're welcome. I looked you up on google and saw you are on a few other sites, too. How do they compare? You can PM me if you want, I don't want anybody upset by my impolitic query... Thanks, Carrie

This is a really intimate and inventive view of death. I've been around something like this and this seems quite possible. You've told this really cleverly through the voice of your patient. A little chilling, but it felt real.

Thank you, Mark, I'm glad you enjoyed my flash fiction foray into death. Now, if only more voters had...

Did you mean "another wordly" or "an otherworldly?" Same as always Dean! You are great! Everything you do is with such perfection and timing. Thank you for sharing.

"Otherworldly", Jane. Beings from another world or plane of existence.
I'm really glad you enjoyed my attempts at making death seem less fearful. I just wish a lot more voters shared your sentiments, LOL.
