I understand the message behind this piece, my friend, but I'm thinking you probably should've picked a different picture. This poor girl looks like she's being murdered. Haha!

Could be you're right, but most folks think they're "being murdered" when they are simply being corrected. Thanks for reading and reviewing, Dennis

So much truth in this very short article. Why is it listed as General Fiction?
I heartily agree that a father who truly loves his children will make the effort to correct them when they need it. Correction is a form of love. Beatings are not. I think God gives us wisdom as parents, if we ask for it. Parenting is a job to be taken very seriously and requires a willingness to sacrifice and the ability to exercise self-discipline as well. It is not a job for sissies. Thank you for this excellent bit of wisdom. Why is it so short? MM

It was originally put on my Facebook page as a quick response to Christians who believe that correction of any kind is not "Christian" and that everything should always be positive.
They confuse correction with condemnation and as the scripture quoted taught, such is not the case,. Both Jesus and the Apostles were balanced in their teaching. They commended good behavior and corrected bad behavior. The same applied for teaching. As far as being listed as General Fiction, my bad. Sometimes I forget to label my writings. Thanks for reading and God bless you, Dennis

It is good to be "corrected" by the LOrd...
His counsel is the BEST..
Wisdom and grace He provides for His children.
Thanks for sharing "scripture".
Always appreciated..

Yeah, I know, if he didn't care, he would not bother to discipline. . .from a human parental viewpoint, I understand this.
But, I think too many parents do not understand what this means. . .as I think I talk about in the Reap the West Wind story.
Nice little piece here

Great picture! That's just how so many of us react. Growing up is hard to do.
It's true, God loves us and corrects us. We just don't always want to listen. It would be nice to have more story with this. Good thought.
God bless,
Anita

That was originally designed to be short and to the point as a response on FB. Even Christians feel that any rebuke or correction is condemnation. I suppose they then think their salvation is being challenged? Thanks, Anita and God bless you, Dennis

One the ways we parents show love is to correct our children when it's appropriate, not to condemn them, of course. I enjoyed reading this, Dennis. Thank you for sharing this.

Thanks Connie and that's exactly what God does with His born-again children. Dennis

I never criticized my children but I did spend considerable time correcting them and trying to point them in the right direction. They have grown into strong, loving, caring adults and are both excellent mothers. I like this one very much.

It is always hard to be corrected. we like to think we know it all, being told you're wrong is no fun, but we would be wayward without it. Well done sir. Rox

"Honey, why are you crying? -- you need the other quotation mark at the end.
This is a great opening, but I lost the thread of thought when you started to use numbers. Where are one, two, and three.? Maybe putting Hebrews 12:4-6 after God disciplines his children?
A nice parallel between your example and the spiritual lesson. Hard to rate this since most of it comes from the Bible.

Fixed the quotation mark, thanks. The scripture portion I was referencing began at 4... perhaps you're right about positioning. Thanks for reviewing. Dennis
