Exceptional
This work has reached the exceptional level

Good poem about writers block, something we all struggle with at times. Good rhyming and word flow make it easy to read and understand. Thanks for sharing, God bless.

This is a very cute poem you have penned about writers block. I used to get writers block quite a bit. No fun at all. Nicely written my friend! Blessings, Teri

"Clock" and "Lock" probably should not be capitalized. Writer's block is enough to drive any writer crazy and keep them pondering what, oh what, am I going to write? Sure most writers can relate to this dreaded experience. Sometimes, it seems to help to step back for a day or two and get re-energized. At least, that works when I suffer this ailment.

If you look at pictures on the Internet, of which there are millions and more you might find one that shouts out to you ...write me...write me...Maybe worth a shot, I've done it before. Or decide on an animal or a bird and be it, write about it...I've done that before and at 78 sometimes I still do it. A raven was up in a tree and my little dog went looney tunes and like you I was on a bit of a slow down, but the raven was so big and beautiful and i wrote this

I Am Raven

To some, I am the
blackness of the devil.
To others, I am called
courageous, a messenger.
They feather me in a whiteness
I cannot always lay claim to.

Just know
I abide within the hallowed
Church of the Outside.
I live not behind walls
...of humanity,
but in the freedom
of the Master Craftsman
who I hold in reverential respect.

I Am Raven

Give it a shot- go somewhere different...Good luck Maybe your memory will revitalize...Dinah

This is one I am sure many can relate to, I know I can. We just have to wait until the light finally goes on, and, believe it or not,it actually does. Nice work with this one.

A very well-written poem about writer's block. That does happen to everyone. I was just reading a poem of the writer's muse that seems to go away on holiday for a while and.left her a note to say she must think what to wright for herself.

Yes, the dreaded Writer's Block. I combat it with ast least two methods that seem to work. At least they work for me:

1) A walk, long one, in the forest.
2) I always have at least 2 Works In Progress, so that when WB corners me and blocks my pathe in one, chances are that in the work he's nowhere to be seen.

Thanks for reviving this post, since I missed it the first time and could catch it now, since I just returned from a short cruise along the coast of Italy and Greece. I am sorry you have been frustrated by writer's block, but I liked your "lock" and "key" metaphors and echoing rhyme. I hope your poem broke the spell. Smiles- Joan

Yes, what is there to say? Of course, eventually the block goes away, supplying the rhyme or reason that eluded you. But that can take too long.

I have found it helpful to abandon whatever was stymying me, and start writing on a clean screen, anything that comes to mind, without trying to make any sense of it. Our muses, you may not know, always are looking over our shoulders, and sometimes spot a nugget of an idea in there, and alert us to it.

If you can be patient, it's worth a shot.

Hi Geoff, welcome back! Haven't heard from you in awhile. Writer's block is not fun and seems like it will never end - but it eventually does.
