very wise words in this Whitney, very well written exactly as it is, beautiful and free, so we should appreciate it.
Well done, good luck in the contest. Mary

I love this whitney Debra - it's simple and sweet with a great message in your last line - perfect! You have also chosen a perfect picture to illustrate your words.
Thank you for entering, and good luck - I think this should be one of the front runners.

Very simple and sweet, Debs.
For a smoother read in better meter (da-DUM-da-DUM) I'd respectfully suggest:
'please-JOIN-me-IN-the-COUNT-ry-SIDE
to-SEE-and-TOUCH-ma-NAT-ure's-PRIDE
with-WILD-life-WALKS-there's-MUCH-to-SEE
they're-ED-u-CAT-ion-AL-and-FREE'
Very sweet read as is.
Best wishes, Ted

Hi Ted :) Thank you for your suggestion, I do appreciate it (being a fan of meter myself LOL!) and your re-write is lovely :) Thing is, the syllable count requirement for the whitney format (3/4/3/4/3/4/7) doesn't readily lend itself to the da-DUM-da-DUM meter!
I hope my response doesn't sound bolshy..., it's not meant in that way at all :)
Cheers, Debs x

DO'H!
I missed that, Debs, and I just entered the contest too.
Many apologise and thanks for the great reply.
Good luck, Ted

No need to apologise Ted! I appreciate the time you took with your review :) Good luck in the contest, I'll pop over to your entry now! Debs x
-
Thanks, Debs. I THINK I've stopped fiddling with it now. x
-
I'll take your word for it! ;P
-
Damn - I just had another fiddle. That's it for now or it will end up a sonnet. :-) x
-
LOL! I enjoyed it both times I read it.... leave it alone now though eh?! It's great! x
-
Leave WHAT alone? It's completely gone out my head.
Now...hmmm...about that last line. ;-) xx

;P Typical bloke!! x

I wish I could multi-task with drinking beer and writing at the same time. I'm so confused. ;-) xx

Thank you miss cookie for your lovely review. Many of the best things in life are free! Glad you liked the photo - it is of my husband Shaun and our youngest daughter Rebecca whilst we were on holiday last year :) Kindest regards as always, Debra :)

You're very welcome. Until next time.
Comment from Dawn Munro
This is such a charming Whitney poem! The happiness fairly leaps from the screen and says, "Join me on this lovely walk!" VERY nicely done. Best of luck in the contest. :)

Great Job
This is a very clever piece. I also think that the rhyming flows very nicely. I like the picture although I think a cartoon or painting would be cuter. Good luck in the contest

What a very nice Whitney this is, Debra. Darn--I don't know how I missed this contest. Looks like a fun one to enter, and I think you will be a strong contender here. What a very clever seven-syllable last line you have. My best to you in the contest. I wish I had a sixer left to give this.
Hugs,
Connie

This is a fine reflective verse, in compliance with the contest rules, and a great illustration at the top. Best of luck in the prompt. This might well be the winner.
