This is so clever, really cute. We have a black "neighborhood" cat that stalks our yard regularly for squirrels, birds, what have you. So, this was a real "picture poem" for me--I could just see it happen. Funny!

LOL. . . and I thought it was only pigeons and seagulls I had to worry about!!
Now I'll have to think twice before petting my midnight black cat when she comes in for the night.
Eew. . . sticky!

LMAO - cute write!

I really like this especially with the such vivid sound along with visual imagery.

No spag, good form, right on the prompt.

Great picture for this too. I must say, that is a whole passel of boy surrounding you... :) Carrie

Great picture to compliment your poem, Dallas01. You tell the story of a mischievous cat who prowls for owls, but ends up a target himself.
I saw a big barred owl once out near Round Lake. It must have been at least two feet high as it perched in a tree. All of a sudden, it spread its wings and glided down the hill towards the lake... silent, with barely any other movement. It was an awesome sight. Cats wouldn't have a chance.
Nicely penned!
Good Luck in the contest!
cheers

Haha! I love this whitney about the cat being outstalked by the wise owl - brilliant. I also really like your use of meter and rhyme which gives your whitney an easy rhythm. Your choice of picture is perfect. All in all this will be a very strong contender I am sure.

Thank you for entering and good luck!

Undoubtedly the wittiest Whitney I've ever read! I'm not a big cat fan, so I sort of liked that ending LOL. Great contest entry, my friend. Good luck!

Tell me that no owls or kitty cats were harmed in the writing of this whitney! Clever poem and not the traditional "nature" story. I like the word lithesome in your description. Good luck in the contest!
