I love the picture. I love the poem. I love the advice. Get a pet. I adopted a couple of cats after my husband died. They really helped me recover. My husband and I trained horses. It kept us close together. Animals give unconditional love. Great work. Good luck with the contest.

I loved this unique response to the prompt. The near-rhymes in the opening lines of stanzas one and three, and at the end of stanza four, tend to cause hiccoughs in the rhythm as the poem is read aloud. Overall, I think the message is clear. Thank you for sharing:)

I wish more people would consider taking in pets that have no
other home. There are so many, it is heartbreaking.
Your poem is most uplifting and I enjoyed it very much. Just one slight problem with the rhyme. Boss and horse do not
rhyme. You would have to change it to boss and hoss.

I think you need to send this lovely poem to the local pound - I am certain they will use it. It is well written, has a real message and is appealing to the ear and eye. the rhyme is simple and unforced and the meter is very strong and flows well.
I am serious about sending it to a pet center or somewhere public where they give away or sell animals. You would be doing tham a favor! Very nice!
