A picture that does not sit well with the poem. The poem has a very simple theme of unrequited love. A charm in its use of language and easy rhyme. The picture spoils it for me.

A time-honoured lament. Who doesn't know the pain of unrequited adolescent love? It's certainly providential though when you run into the one who's spurned you, and it dawns on you, "WTF was I thinking?!" (my experience) At the time, little do we know that we're actually being 'looked after'!
A nicely penned aabb piece that says it all.
Cheers
Paula

Extremely well written, the warmth and feeling sparks in my heart. I especially liked these lines which conveyed the hopelessness and despair:
"But now I sit here with a sigh
As days keep slowly passing by
I count how many days have gone
With not a word to cast hope on"
Well done.

Teenagers do love to tease and toy with the emotions of the opposite sex.
I really liked this realistic and sensitive outpouring of rejection and loss.
Don't we just pine over the silliest things. Heck, there's plenty more fish in thhe sea.Lol.

Cleverly woven story telling in poetic form. The picture you chose to go with it gives it an innocence that matches the rhythm. I love the way you switch from future to past in the final stanza whilst still hanging in the present. Very clever.

Excellent poem! The poem flowed and connected well. The author's poem is innocent and sweet. The words used were descriptive, showed emotion and were creative. The artwork is perfect and complimented this poem.
Thank you, harmony13

Your poem reads so smoothly. It has good rhyme and describes well the longing for the kiss from him. Nice little picture to compliment your poem. I love, the promised kiss still unfulfilled. Good poem.

Swe-eet - tender, saturated with the yearning of extreme youth.

How beautifully you've captured the mood and the voice.

Nice done, Anne. All the best in the contest.

Love,

xx

AnnieDawn: boys have no clue as to what a young girl wants nor what is important to her. I have a 17 year old grandson who never has a girlfriend and I asked him why. . .he stated that he doesn't understand women, doesn't know what they want because it seems to change day to day. His first heart break came at age 8. He was sad for days when his little girlfriend decided that she liked another boy better. I don't think he has ever recovered. . .I digress; your poem is melancholy and tells an age old story. . .everyone probably has this same kind of memory. Good write. livelylinda
