I'm so sorry for your loss. I can't imagine how hard this was to read after losing her. I'm sure that you treasured the precious time that you had with her and neither you nor your daughter will forget that. Sophia is your own special angel and she's thriving, now.

What a Tradgedy for your family, how devastating for anyone to lose a child. I cannot even begin to imagine the pain you must be feeling. In the poem one feels how excited you and your daughter are to welcome your grandchild. How sad for you both.

The absolute joy of your poem celebrating the forthcoming birth of your grand-daughter is in stark contrast to the tragedy about which you write in your author's note. The combination is hugely powerful in its sadness. There is deeply moving poem waiting to be written contrasting the joy with the sadness.

So very sorry to hear about the loss of your grandchild. My wife and I have each lost a son (from previous marriages). However they were much older than pretty little Sophie ... my son was 22 and my wife's son was 33. Both died in vehicle accidents. Thus, I can relate to this in a similar manner.
You've touched my heart with this sad but wonderful poem. It must have been very difficult for you to write. It was wonderful! Thank you for sharing such a personal story with uis. God Bless,
Alan

Thank you for the wonderfully touching comment and great review. I am so sorry to hear about your wife and your losses as well. Such a tragedy!! My sweet Sophia was 100% misdiagnosed by the top Pediatric Cardiologist at The Children's Hospital. He actually saw the problem as he stated in the file but for whatever reason he chose to not tell us and ignore it. This was very treatable and would let her live a long and healthy life. Instead he changed our lives forever. I really appreciate you taking the time to read her poem (there's more on my page lol) May God bless you and your family....

What a tragedy! It's heartbreaking. Time heals the wound but sometimes the scars remain. My wife and I wish the very best for your family. We'll add you to our prayers tonight. Wishing you well, GBY,
Alan & Di

Thank you...may I ask why only the 4 stars? That really hurt my rating and if you liked it then I'm confused?!

What a beautiful tribute to a precious little girl, full of all the love a grandparent feels. You have lots of images showing throughout this poem. One suggestion in the last stanza take out "and in line one replace with comma to may the poem stronger. Beautifully written

There are no words to say or tell that will ease your broken heart. But know that you have unseen support from every creative soul. Lovely piece of writing Oma. I grew up in an afrikaans speaking home, we also used Oma, but spelt it Ouma.

Thank you so much!! My children picked the name "Oma" special for me as it's meaning is obviously grandma in German. I was honored. I appreciate your kind words..xoxo

What a precious photo of a precious little girl
I am so very sorry for your loss
My grandson Sawyer is almost 18 months old, but when my daughter was in her 29th week, Sawyer's twin died of a syndrome that involved, among other things, four separate heart defects.
My heart goes out to you because I know how hard it was to lose our precious little one.
solid rhyming couplets
every line so filled with love :-) Brooke

Can't really comment on your words, because this loss is so great. No way to reason it out, here you just have to go by faith, and the belief that we will all be rejoined again after we leave this earth. Hit home because I have a new granddaughter just three months old. I sincerely hope that you found some solace by putting your grief into words. Comments by that one guy shows how many FS'ers just skim through our works and do not really read.
My condolences to you, I admire your courage.

Thank you sooo much for your condolences to my family. It means a great deal to us. My grandaughter was only 24 days old when she passed from a misdiagnosed heart condition. It devestates our souls.
BTW....CONGRADULATIONS on your new grandbaby.

This is a really nice poem, written in the quatrain style with good rhythm and rhyming throughout the poem, about the author's granddaughter. Sorry to hear about what happened to her.
