You certainly had a lot of adventures with your early cars. I suspect many young people run afoul of the law, as they don't yet understand all the implications. Fun comment about your car being used as a check point during the Walkathon, given your preference not to walk. You seem to be fond of Triumphs. I've been hearing that in the U.S. driving isn't the big deal it was in the past. My great-nephew, however, was eager to get his driver's license and have his own car to drive. You mentioned the driving school, I think that's a good way to learn. Many times relatives are more likely to be unhelpful. I see you've got a lot of reviews on this. Good for you. Wish I could say the same for my writes. judi

Thanks for the lovely review there are later chapters with rewards on them still I think. I am coming back to you ok! Been working on building up funny money in both accounts to get more of my biography up for one last round of reviews. Tootsie55 is up till November and that account is helping with more funny money to get this book up for more reviewing. Sankey is on Monthly Membership for the time being.
-
You're very welcome. Glad you've got that funny money coming in. I never thought of going month by month. Hope that's working out for you. judi

Mastery (Bob H) told me recently he has been on Monthly for ages. I went Monthly as I am not real sure how long I am continuing in this place. Due to some recent improvements in access between the two accounts I am becoming convinced I could stay longer, as well as meeting some new writers as well.

Loved reading of your adventures. Learning to drive matches what I went through here in the US, although I did not buy one until many years later. Thank you for sharing your story. They are always interesting and I love keeping up with your writing. Great job.

This episode reminded me of the days when I received my license, at the tender age of 17, back then, one only needed to do a written test to receive a full license, I had my first driving lesson from a friend the next day, then I started a partial driving job on the Monday. (Compulsory driving tests and Ls and Ps, started shortly after.) good to hear from you again, interesting episode Geoff, blessings. Roy
Typo 90 kph - 80 mph, wouldn't that be 60 mph?

Thanks Bro glad there might have been some you missed as these Revive Certificates have shown up and I did not want to miss them. Watch out for more. I forget your vintage? Rules might have been different in SA as well if that is where you were at License time. I am 68.

76 Geoff

100kms is 60 mph buddy. How young are you and perhaps different in South Australia? I am 68.
-
You said 90 kph = 80 mph, 100kph is 62.5 mph.

Well, thank you so much for sharing about your car adventures. It's a wonderful thing to think about the kinds of cars we drove over our lives. It's also a great reminder of how much the Lord watches over us.

I got my license at 16 but I had to buy my first car. I drove my parents car until I was 18 and could afford my own. And driving the back roads is always prettier than the freeways. I totally get that. It's nice having someone who can help you fix cars. I married a mechanic. Our current car sucks and we can't wait to get rid of it. One day, one day.

A very well-written story about the first thing we do when we are eighteen is to obtain a driver's licence to buy a first car that allow us to go wherever we want to go whenever we want to.

Thanks Sis for coming through. Doing a final edit before publishing and a Revive Certificate turned up so had to grab it. I just did some more editing as recommended probably while you were reading. Thanks.

Hi Geoff, this was an interesting chapter to your foray into driving and buying your first vehicle. In Europe we can't get a licence before we've turned 18, apart from Britain. But trust them to be different. LOL. I liked this chapter. Very informative. All the best. Ulla:)))

Hi, Geoff. I love this account of your first experiences with a license and getting a car. What in the world does the "P" stand for on the red plate? Not a bad idea altogether by the way.
I didn't own my first car until I was 18 either. It was a '52 Ford.
Interesting story, mate. Bless you and your Missus on this Mother's Day. Bob

Thanks Bob. Glad it had more info for you I just went back and re- edited again if you want to look one more time. I explained the "Provisional" license more. Hoping al lthe new reviews might tip this over to All Time Best but being an old chapter it may not. (Show up for this year I guess, in Tom's new Scheme for All Timers.)

Thank your for sharing. I so enjoy reading your memories.
16yrs and 9 months, as it was then, to get a Learners' Permit. I got mine at the age of 18yrs (spaces needed between the 16 yrs, actually years should be spelled out and the same for 18 years)
It also only cost me the princely sum of $AU160 including registration. (pricey???)

This write teaches much about your driving skills and laws. Much like ours but seems to be more rigged. I missed the teen driving thing, I was in the U.S.Army at 17 and drove everything they had. Tanks, trucks, you name it. Your story sounds a bit challenging as well LOl.
