I enjoyed your little trip down the employment memory lane. It's funny how our first jobs introduce us to some unique personalities. This was fun hearing about you as a seventeen year old. Thank you for posting this. Gretchen

Thanks mate. So glad you picked these up as it was just for you I did them. I figure there are more newer fans have not seen these hopefully they will get to them. The Queen Victoria Building will be on the cover of this whenever I finally get it published. Back then it was being threatened wih demolition. So glad they renovated it.

Thanks Sis for the lovely review. I guess your new chapter is coming soon. More coming and look amongst my other chapters some might still be paying.

Good story. Good work.
"At that time I had only been conversant with electronic organs, or spinet organs I think they were called, for about three years." - They were called spinet organs for three years, or you were only conversant for about three years?
"possible sale I nearly had, of an organ, " - better would be possible sale of an organ.
Best wishes.

Thanks, Wayne, I will look at your suggestion. These are getting really "long in the tooth as you might notice, first written 9 years ago and still unpublished. Thought I would get a few old chapters out for some newer folks to review.

Isn't it amazing how height, or lack of, can affect the others see us? Me, I'm 5' 7" and can feel the pain. What a wonderfully written chapter. Best of luck with your writing!
Have a great day, and God bless.

Thanks Papmike. These were originally done, some 9 years ago but still unpublished. I decided to get some of the old chapters out for some mewer folks like yourself to review.

I really liked this chapter. We don't quite have the large stores for music instruments here in town like what you had back then. People aren't quite as creative nowadays. That's awesome that you got to meet Herman's Hermits. I listened to their music a lot growing up, although they were already on the oldies stations.
I'm glad you finally found a job that ended up holding you for a good amount of time back then.

We just visited the QVB where I had this job, the other day. I was there just before the renovations. Do you have Facebook, we did quite a bit of video in town the other day if interested. Thanks so much for all your lovely reviews
-
We just recently checked out the Queen Victoria Building where I had that job all those years ago.
-
What's inside of it now? In the chapter you mentioned the store closed down.
-
Lots of very pricey stores. The oersib whi was the saving of the old building was far Lefty Jack Mundey from the builder's labourers' Federation. He would probably choke at the result of whaty he saved hehe. Still some evidence of the old original style in the floors and windows and stuff.

You did a good job describing everything that went into your first jobs the people you worked with, what you learned, how you enjoyed the areas of work, and how they played an important part in your early music career. I love the way you mentioned that the old building was renovated (rather than torn down in my opinion). I had to laugh about the part where you were told to stop laughing.
Respectfully, Jan

Wait, did you just say you enjoyed working with the public? I work with the public everyday and I'm pretty sure that's why I don't want to do anything on my day off. Finding a job can be hard but really your height isn't that short. I'm 5 foot 4 inches. You're my height. I hope they got the steps fixed. I'm accident prone too so I understand where you are coming from. And I have no hearing problems and I just talk loud. Sometimes I just think it's who we are. The hard part of a job is learning and the trainers letting the reins go so you do just that. I work retail and we are hounded on replacement plans. There are times I know I could have sold it but I have the let the new person try and sell it. Will they sell everything right away, no. But do I have to let them do it and learn, yes. What is a meat pie? Broken glass in your hamburger is not okay.

Wow, mate this is so far back, I appreciate you coming through here with no rewards, sorry. Meat Pie is pastry as normal filled with meat and gravy. Some are mean on the meat and more gravy but if you know the good brands of meat pies you are set.

You do indeed have a very detailed account of this point in your life.
Did you keep diaries or just have a very good memory?
It's true that pesistence pays off and you did eventually find a talent and love of music.
Well documented.
